Putting the result to one side, one thing that I like to see is the fact we had zero yellow cards and zero red cards in that game. That shows absolute discipline/ sportsmanship in the face of some thuggery.

Yeah we handled ourselves very well, better than them on all kinds of levels.

{Ed0666's Note - I’m still not understanding how CR7 didn’t get sent off?

Completely bottled it 666. He didn't have the balls to send off Ronaldo in front of the Old Trafford crowd (Though it was a red card offence)

{Ed0666's Note - I honestly didn’t it was at first view then I my mate sent me a video from an alternative angle. It’s unadulterated violence, the fact he kicked the ball is of no bearing. Why is he kicking a ball that’s lodged into Jones’ stomach so hard the only thing it’s gonna achieve is injury to Jones. I don’t blame the ref I blame the VAR idiots. The McGuire red card I can kind of understand because correct me if I’m wrong there was a man covering but out of eyeshot.

I’m fairly certain the whistle has already gone when Ronaldo boots it. Petulance of the highest order and should have walked.

As for Maguire I’m still convinced that is a red. I don’t buy the covering defender excuse. Jota had a run on AWB. It looks like jota isn’t getting the ball anyway as Maguire stabs the ball in AWB’s direction as he cleans Jota out. If Maguire doesn’t make that tackle then AWB doesn’t get anywhere near Jota who 100% has a shot on goal. Clear denial of a goal scoring opportunity. Clear red card.

They bottled both decisions.

You could make a case for the fernandes one on Curtis to given he catches him on his shin.

{Ed001's Note - and you didn't mention Fred's head kick either, which is a red by definition, exactly what Griezmann walked for in the Champions League.}

Funniest of the lot is the United fans claiming to have the better team depth and players it's just the system isn't as good as ours. unbelievably stupid.

The blowing of the whistle does not exclude the possibility of a sending off. Players can and have been sent off even after the final whistle.

Ed666, are you suggesting that the completely and perennialy incompetent Anthony Taylor and the VAR crew actually do their jobs? If that is what you are waiting for then, you're going to be here for a LONG while, respectfully.

The Fred headkick I thought was not a sending off even tho had that been in a CL game he gets sent off cos it was 50/ 50 for me. Same with the Maguire one. 50/ 50 at best. Now the Ronaldo one, tho? Not a soul on this earth could convince me that the coward did not deserve to be sent off. Not a single individual.

It was petty, classless, thug-like tactics on a kid on the floor who in a defenceless position. He got the ball? He wasn't IF it was lodged in Jones' groin, is it? Reckless bevahior.

{Ed0666's Note - I’d rather not talk about this incident much longer as it plain out angers me because as you say it’s just entitled thuggery. I felt sorry for Jones because you could see by his reaction when he got up that he was a little overawed by the culprit and he didn’t really make a big deal of it compared to Robbo, Virgil and Konate. Jones had every right to get up and give Ronaldo a Jorge Masvidal 3 piece with soda. He would never have done that to Ibou can you imagine the carnage if he had? The more I think about it the more steamed up I get. The fact that VAR didn’t intervene is fuc*ing criminal.

Ed, when you have Utd fans on SM saying CRCoward should have been sent off then, that should say it all. Like you said, the less said about this incident, the better moving forward.

{Ed0666's Note - whats SM?

We routinely win the "fair play" awards ever since Klopp came on board. He's inculcated the right values into our players. Always let the football speak for itself. And as far as Ronaldo is concerned, look at his body language. After being chest bumped by VVD, he turned around and walked away as far as possible. All that defiance was momentary, and he wasn't going to mess with VVD and Konaté. Wimp.
