Ed01, How to stop Manchester city this season?

{Ed001's Note - exactly the same as last season, just get at them, they can't cope with pressure.}

Ed, why are they thrashing team after team so convincingly?
I know it’s a very basic question, but could it be down a lack of managerial talent/ nous among the lesser teams in the division? Teams are just absolutely pathetic against City - they barely even bother to play, and we keep seeing the same mistakes made by every team City play leading to the same kind of goals being scored (cut back or slide pass across goal for a tap-in from Sterling, Silva or Aguero) .
It’s a bit shameful how not a single team, other than us, Wolves and Lyon, has even bothered attacking them.

{Ed001's Note - it is because the managers are cowardly. They go in looking to keep the score down rather than going in and taking a chance they might get hammered but could also pick up the points.}

I wish more people could see that Ed mate. They're spoke about like they're untouchable and that's far from the truth. You attack them, what happens? then you've got a chance, sitting back doing bugger all will just invite them to destroy you. I just wish we'd see more teams going for it against them instead of concentrating on conceding less, go for the bloody goals because against that keeper and defence you're bound to get them.

{Ed001's Note - Pep's teams have always struggled against teams that take the game to them. They have been beaten by some truly awful teams over the years, purely because the other team had nothing to lose and attacked them.}

True Ed, he relies on his attack far too much, he'd definitely come unstuck if more teams started attacking them. Their defence isn't good enough and Ederson, well, all I'll say is god knows what all the hype is all about. Before people say he has 8 clean sheets, sure he does why? because he's stood there doing bugger all most of the time.

{Ed001's Note - it is not so much reliant on attack as on possession. Teams are playing right into their hands by giving them easy possession and then wondering why they get a hiding. If you don't make it difficult, then you only have yourselves to blame that you get torn to shreds. Mind it would help if teams even did the basics of defending correctly. All of City's goals yesterday could have been defended by good defensive play.}

It will be interesting to see peps approach the the game against us in the new year. Being at home I can’t see them sitting in the same way they did at anfield but he knows they could be in trouble if they play expansively and we press high.

Cheers.

It’s the same for us too. Due to last season, teams mainly defend deep against us crossing their fingers we don’t score too many. Difference this season is with defensive solidity (same goals against as City) we only need 1 to win.

Im getting really irritated. don't other teams in the league want to win at all? city have best players to unlock d defens in bus tactics. y can't anyone get that? for gods sake mourinho beat them at their home by going straight at them last year! y can't others do that? even spurs last year just defended. they can't even play when other teams stick to them.

So wrapped in other teams and the weekly slating one of our players, that TAA excellent free kick seem to bypass everyone on here, it was one hell of a goal by the young lad, just thought it needed mentioning on here 😆😆.

Just stay within 2 points! They'll come up against a good team in Europe (where they always struggle) and they'll get Battered. Their confidence will be temporarily Shot, And they'll drop points. Then we've got to pounce.

West ham had about as many chances as City yesterday, they just didn't take them. In fairness City attacked very well, but all west ham did was toss the ball right back to city which invited constant pressure. Credit where it's due some of the movement is wonderful and they work hard, but a more savy a d clinical West ham would have got something out of that game in my opinion.

{Ed025's Note - you do make me smile you reds fans istanbul, west ham were trounced 4-0 at home and you think west ham could of got something from it????, they did get something...a good arse kicking by the best and most clinical side in the league mate..

Couldn’t age agree more Ed. His teams keep coming clean sheets because they keep the ball so well, limiting the opposition to creating few chances. It’s not that they are actually good defensively, teams just allow them to play the way they want to play. You actually go at Pep teams and you realise that they aren’t as good defensively as stats suggest. It’s just a case of managers not having enough balls to go out and beat them because they’re too scared to lose.
