Two words. Didi Hamman. Probably the best holding midfielder of his generation. Looked like he was running in treacle. I know "for sure" that Fabinho is the best holding midfielder we have now. Get behind him and maybe one day he will play like the kaiser in a champions league final.

He was a very handy player to have in our team. How we could have done with a player of his quality over the last few years.

Saim is spot on. Makalele is one of the all time greats. Didn’t he pretty much invent that position?

makalele never looked rushed, positional sense wins every time, Mashcarano (spelling) always looked great in highlight reels because he was always diving in due to never been in the right place to start with.
