Does Steve Nicol ever say anything positive about Lfc?

Never seen him play but he was supposedly a great player, although he knows absolutely nothing about football. Guy has claimed that salah won't start as our midfield is too strong for him, don't think the guy understands that salah is a winger and that he's very good.

He was a very good player and remains a big fan. To say he knows absolutely nothing about football is embarrassing, show some respect.

I grew up watching Nicol, he was probably one of the most versitie players we had in the 80's. He played right across the back four, though his main postition was right back after Neal left. He also played in midfield and on occasions up front!

To say he doesn't understand the game is completed nonsense and as Burkeyboy said, embarrassing!

Our current set of defenders would learn a lot from Nicol!

{Ed001's Note - I have never heard Nicol say anything that wasn't heavily biased towards Liverpool. That is his big issue, he is a properly biased fan, who sees everything through big red blinkers.}

Loved Nicol, grew up in the 80s and always remember him for a hat trick v Newcastle.

That's true ED001, in fact, there are quite a few players from that era that are the same and I have met a fair few, just like you have mate.

The three I found really Good to have a chat to were, David Fairclough, Alan Kennedy and Jimmy Case, he is a really nice fella. Rushey is also a top bloke.

I don't want people to think I'm name dropping here, there is nothing worse. I've just been very fortunate over the years, to meet these players. My line of work involves marketing and one of the company's our marketing team deal with is carlesberg. So can sometimes get entry into the Carlesberg suite, where some of the oldies are, mingling with everyone, signing autographs, pictures etc.

{Ed001's Note - one of the old timers, Nicky Tanner, is now running events based out of the south of England, where you can meet all the old timer players. He is a really nice bloke Nick, his events are well worth attending if anyone is looking for a chance to get to meet some legends of the LFC past.}

Some players don't have a great knowledge of football. I remember when Ian Rush started his brief managerial career at Chester a few of his ex team mates (can't remember which) said in an interview they were shocked he was going into management as he didn't have the greatest football knowledge and not that big of a love for the game.

Good shout ed001.

I didn't know this about Tanner, I would 100% advise anyone interested in meeting some of the legends go and do so.

{Ed001's Note - he also organises footgolf days etc.}

Nicol also said this time last year Liverpool were making a huge mistake paying 35 million for mane. That turned out to be a good shout didn't it.

To be fair, I would say the majority on here would have said the same about Mané before the season started.

He may not be a good judge of players
He may make mistakes - we all do.
To say he "knows absolutely nothing about football" is disrespectful and ignorant.

Stevie Nicol (who I saw play) and his fellow deluded assistant Shaka Hislop, spent the whole of last season slating us on ESPN, saying we would not make top 4 and wound up with egg on their faces.
