The aguero goal against city probably.

3rd goal for Swansea at Anfield, their passing was fast and precise and tore us apart.

We almost always shoot ourselves in the foot rather than being hit by a great goal but, in fairness, most goals come about due to some sort of error or misjudgment (big and small) - I think with us its just our mistakes are so huge and our deficiencies so glaring that teams who target that weakness will, sooner or later, be rewarded. As Ed001 said in his match review there are serious doubts about entire defensive line: Mignolet, Clyne, Milner, Matip, Lovren - they are all on thin ice and a long way from showing they are of the desired quality - there is no other side in the top 6 who you could say that about I mean all have weak positions but none have an entire defence that is sub par. It is clearly our weakest area and hopefully the area we target on improving this summer. We must also hope our rising stars (Gomez, TAA) can make the step up next season.

Getting hit on the break is always a risk against lower sides and mistakes will happen if facing attackers one on one often enough, but it's the predictability of us being exposed on set pieces that's the biggest problem IMO. keeps our opposition thinking they always have a chance when it should be something we can eliminate through recruitment and training.

It is the individual mistakes that have plagued us for the past 3/ 4 seasons now as this season, I can barely recall us getting cut open with ease bar a counter attack.

I can confidently say that 90% of the goals we concede is due to either one or a collection of individual mistakes and THAT is where our issues lie. We have the 6th best defence in the PL.

That is NOT bad IMO, especially based on the way we play. If we can just cut out the brain-farts we have individually and collectively, we would be better defensively. I propose two things. We get rid of the individuals whose mistakes have cost us the most like Lovren and Klavan and prolly Clyne and replace them with better quality defenders who are aggressive, take charge of situations and have a defensive mentality.

Second, get a defensive coach in to drill these boys into a unit, give them responsibilities in critical defensive situations. This will lead to individual and collective accountability for mistakes being made. Any other thoughts or solutions?
