So do I. We have to stop messing about our young players with loans where they barely play.

Yesil, Ilori, Wisdom etc had such ill thought out loan deals last season. Yesil barely got off the bench, Ilori didn't get off the bench and Wisdom was canned for being under 7ft.

If we are to loan out our young lads in future, they need to go to teams who will utilise them, develop them, and play a positive brand of football.

Paul Pogba. to Man U for £105 million possibly
Marko Grujic . to Liverpool for £5 million definite

Pogba. age 23
Grujic. age 20

Both attacking midfielders.

Let's see who made the best signing.
My money's on Grujic.

Grujic and Pogba are very similar players, but comparisons are unnecessary.

I don't care who is the better signing though. Pogba can be the best PLAYER in the league next season for all I care. I just hope Grujic contributes towards us being the best TEAM in the league.

Whatever way you dress it up, Pogba is a cracking signing by the way. And if Stones is worth £50m then Pogba at £105m is relatively a bargain!

Why would clubs loan in Ilori, Yesil or Wisdom if they didn't think they can challenge their way into first team? i rather think we view too many of the younger players at LFC with red-tinted glasses.

Yesil missed the best part of 2 years with an injury and probably was way off the pace. Ilori has not even played a single minute at LFC despite being here for over 3 years. I think there are more than enough information to suggest that they simply weren't good enough.

Andre Wisdom is 23 now and a loan for him makes absolutely no sense. LFC don't feel he is good enough now to play for them, then there simply isn't any need to send him on loan, but rather sell him.

Ilori has played for the first team. It was against Exeter in the cup last season.

why liverpool fans want to always make absurd comparisons of their signings with other teams is beyond me, grujic with pogba, yeah sure let's compare a kid out of serbian league with a player who is a mainstay for serie A champions and starter for french national team. Another such comparison comes to mind remember a guy called cristiano ronaldo who was not good enough to lace Anthony Le Tallec's boot if liverpool fans were to be believed, that worked out well didn't it.

Posts comparing grujic to pogba after a friendly are a bit embarrassing for me really. but each to his own I suppose.

I think AG means in the League and i agree with everything he posted.

"common_sense moyes" 😂😂

Anyway, I agree, you can't easily compare players when they haven't played under the same conditions. I do remember another world class midfielder Man Utd signed from Italy for a near record fee - J-S Veron 🤔.

{Ed041's Note - Aquiliani anyone?

AG I'm not suggesting Ilori and Yesil are good players. But they received poor loans. Ilori got lots of game time in the Portuguese and Spanish leagues where they value technique over brute strength. At Villa who were always going to struggle to stay up, was another dinosaur manager like Sherwood really going to take a risk on a 22 year old loaned in centre back? It was a careless decision by LFC and yet another example if them treating young players careers with discontent.

Yesil if he was struggling after injury should've been kept at the club for specialised rehab training and to play in the u21's instead of fobbed off on another club with no investment in his future.

Wisdom also got sent on poor loans. Which have damaged his career.

I'm surprised at you in particular AG, trying to defend the club on this. We have been disgusting in our disregard of the careers of our employees, and even ex employees if you take the Spearing example. Ilori despite our poor treatment is still being selected by the Portugal national youth sides and the Olympic squad. Yesil is still highly rated in Turkey and Germany. Wisdom still doesn't struggle to get a loan despite 2 years on the bench at relegation candidates. Pleading ignorance doesn't make our club any less of an embarrassment.

Spot on, MK. Blame the players for not making it at a loan club where the coaches have no idea what they are doing or how to use them.
