Hopefully we don't sign players based on a good performance in an international tournament, memories of El Hadji Diouf and Salif Diao bossing a game against France and we end up signing both and we know how that turned out.

Is it true Ed Houllier refused an option of making Anelka's loan permanent in favour of signing Diouf?

{Ed001's Note - we never bought either on the back of a tournament, Diouf was signed prior to the World Cup and Diao along with him as a friend to help him settle. Ged rejected the chance to sign Anelka because he Nic liked to ask questions and Ged hated anyone who didn't just follow orders.}

I remember meeting paddy in Southport. Lovely bloke and signed an autograph for everyone. He was only out with his Mrs but he stood and greeted everyone.

{Ed001's Note - Paddy was great, he would always have time for people whenever I saw him. I can remember him having a kickabout with us and running rings round everyone.}
