I have to say I feel for Danny Ward. He was a first keeper in a good team in Scotland and did a very good job there. He didn't play a minute for us since coming.

I don't have a problem with Klopp playing Mings if he thinks he is better but why was it urgent to bring Ward back then? With the other loanees they hardly played in their teams anyway but Ward enjoyed every minute there so it seems. Ward is not a kid, he is 23 and that is half a season for him on the bench instead of playing.

Even if the aim is for Klopp to see him playing or to have a better option than Bogdan if Mings is injured it seems to me a bit unfair.

Klopp said early doors that he wasn't a fan of the English way of loaning youngsters out all over the place. He must clearly feel his methods are better at developing youngsters hence why he's virtually called them all back. I also think its to assess who, what and how good all the players at the club are. There's no doubt that some of our 'youngsters' are no longer youngsters and if they aren't good enough then they should be moved on as they are only a drain on wages, training resources and prevent the actual youngsters from progressing.

If Mings got injured there would be howls on here and elsewhere of why didn't klopp bring back Ward, that Bogdan is a disaster, Klopp should have seen this coming etc etc. When Klopp played Bogdan it was obvious to all that Bogdan was not good enough for Liverpool. The right decision was made, get Ward back for cover, as well as an opportunity to assess Ward first hand over 6 months in preparation for next season.

Well put Micheal. Also worth noting that Ward has barely been back a month, he might very well still get gametime but he's a keeper, he needs to settle back into the squad at least a little first.

Maybe it was legitimate from Klopp - I still think it is unfair to the player.

I will go one further, Michael. I want Ward given a shot at the GK position and let us see what he can do. Milan had the same thing/ issue with their GK`s but instead of buying, they went to their academy and got a 16 yr old who is now doing the business for them I say, we do the same thing and develop our own. The advantage is that Ward has actually played top flight football in Scotland and in the EL so he is even more experienced that the Milan kid is. Just my opinion.

I was surprised he didn't take over Bogdan's role by playing in the cup competitions. But Klopp will obviously want to assess him more first. There is more to goalkeeping that stopping a shot or catching a cross.

things that mignolet can't do.
