Most players that have left the helm of Rodgers have seemed better than they were for us. I always thought Aspas deserved an actual shot as the central striker instead of playing on the wing, but Rodgers loves to tinker with player positions and then blame them when things go wrong.

Not saying Aspas is a world beater or anything, but what could Borini/Origi do that Aspas couldn't?

Borini hardly got a chance either. along with Alberto, Ilori, Markovic & Lambert. Only what, nearly £50m of purchases?

Borini had chances and didn't take them! Lambert was never going to be more than a backup

TJ, so who are these other players apart from Aspas who have done better once they have left. It would be interesting to know

Markovic has started brightly though it is too early to tell. Sterling is doing well for city. Hell even balotelli was getting plaudits last night. Jonjonjo is doing better. What young player has been brought in and improved? I cringe every time I see Jordon Ibe come on; and I don't know where to blame him or the manager, because I know he is played out of position but the game just stops when he gets the ball. Teixeira is wasting his career away rotting in our reserves. Firmino had been one of the better performers in Europe prior to his arrival, now he can't get a 90 minute game and has only had one decent performance.

Maybe I should have worded it differently; what player have we signed or that has been a part of Rodgers' squads that improved? Sterling was always going to improve, Coutinho is good and he's smashing in screamers on occasion now, but other than that, how much has he improved since arrival?

Talking about loan signings,Luis Alberto is still producing in his cameos,Sahin has once again started looking like the player who showed promise,Downing EASILY played better at WHU,connor coady has been showing what he can do at Wolves,the forgotten man Assaidi has been performing well according to reports (though I haven't seen him play personally)Shelvey has progressed much further since leaving.

When they were getting games at their clubs Kelly looked good (pardew doesn't fancy him for some reason) and Wisdom played well for WBA before Pulis took over.

All I would say have progressed their careers moving on all going on loan with the likelihood of being sold in the case of wisdom and Alberto

{Ed001's Note - I am pretty sure Kelly played at the weekend mate.}

Yes Ed001 he did,but it was because Ward has been out injured I think as Ward started the 1st 4 but according to physio room isn't expected back till mid October.

{Ed001's Note - I don't understand Pardew though, he does obsess over some truly dreadful players that he will pick constantly. Joel Ward is one of them. Utterly average on his best days, yet he gets picked every week when fit.}

You're praching to the choir with this one mate,100% agreed. What's you take on Pardew overall,I'm not sure where I'm at with him,he goes through spells where seemingly his teams look tough to break down and play decent footy,then they stagnate and drop off. He seems to be able to galvanize players for a year or so. Is it because he's a manager that emphasises on geeing players up or that his tactics are found out? I've never really paid close enough attention to Newcastle to really assess it myself. I know he walks the line with his pitch side antics too,headbutting players etc.
