Evening all, my nephew has just signed for an Evo-stik prem side and he's been looking online at the sort of diet he should be on. He's found something that looks a bit strict diet wise and I'm wondering if any of you (maybe EMS) would have any advice on how much he should take notice of these "footballer diet plans" taking into account he's 19 and still growing
Thanks in advance

{Ed002's Note - The club should give him guidance if he needs it Chris.}

Ed 2 is right mate, the club should be able to help.

If not, I'd suggest finding a proper nutrionist and s+c coach as to avoid any general diet not having full affect depending on your nephews needs. E.g. Additional strength training etc would then require added calories unless of course he was looking to cut weight.

Your best bet is the club and licenced nutrionist / s+c coach rather than us lot matey! But in general, general training plans are ok but realistically every programme sport specific would be tailored towards each individual.

Think of it in terms of; would a big strong monster of a forward like Costa be on the same diet as a small agile David Silva? Diet must be tailored towards the individual themselves mate.

Chris it should depend on his fitness. At 19 as you already know he is still growing and should not be to concerned about dieting specifically. If he eats right, lean meats, lots of veg and fruit, drinks water he should be fine. Good luck to him
