I'm among the few with this, by the looks of the majority of posts.

What is with the Rodgers out calls / talk?
Yes performances haven't been good, barely ok if I'm honest. However, we're within touching distance of 3rd and only 5 points of 2nd. Still in the capital one cup, still have a very decent chance of qualifying for the next round of the champions league.

The most embarrassing thing for me, is if we hadn't of fallen short last season, you posters calling for his head would be asking for him to be inducted into a hall of fame regardless of this season.

There's no two ways about it, we over achieved last season by going as close to winning as we did. This year should be about a top 4 finish, even if that is 4th and decent cup wins, ideally winning one.

Performances will come, but whilst they're so bad and be it fortunate or not, results are working our way.

Yes, Rodgers has is faults, few don't. But why don't we back him and the team, ride out our luck as when the performances click, and they will, the clubs around us will be the ones scrambling around looking for points.

Are the ones suggesting Remy didn't happen due to Borini still being here for real? Why would we as a club (already knowing borini was staying) wait for Remy to have a medical and come over to the states before deciding, oh actually sorry lad we can't bring you in now. Just not likely what so ever is it.

Give Borini a break, I think given the chances we create he can do well. He isn't rated so highly in Italy for no reason.

Lets talk Ryan Bertrand! Is everyone really against this move as per many of the posts?
I for one don't think he would turn out to be so bad, it wasn't all that long ago he was touted as the next Ashley Cole and was meant to have big potential. Now obviously up to now he may not have fulfilled that, but he isn't exactly old and there's plenty of time for him to become a solid if not top player.
There are others I'd prefer, but I won't be writing him off.

Unpopular opinion I'm sure this, but I for one am not too fussed that we've missed out on Sanchez. I've never been sold on him and despite having a good world cup, I don't think it's the end of the world so to speak, that we've missed out on him.

Markovic could prove to be a good signing should the rumours hold truth. A lot of potential there, not quite a ready made guarenteed starter in my opinion, but we have a lot of games this season, very good signing in my opinion.

I've also seen many posters suggesting we CAN'T sign any one of top class, for what ever reasons. This is most likely down to your interpretation of the phrase "World Class" or "Top Class". Just because a player isn't playing for a top 15 club in the world or whomever doesn't mean they can't be a class player. I understand that no everyone has huge time to scour the footballing world (I personally am way behind, I just don't have the will to go through it all currently!), but don't just flat out disregard players because they aren't at top european clubs. Or simply it's just a knee-jerk reaction to Sanchez not choosing us.

Slightly away from my ramblings; if as suggested by many we're to adopt more of a 4-3-3 setup this season, I'd like us to take a look at Hector Herrera. Impressed me for Mexico and looked very solid for Porto when I've seen him. Although a recent signing for them and Porto not being the easiest side to deal with, hugely improbable!

Whilst I'm talking Portugal a cheeky double swoop for Marcos Rojo and Eric Dier off Sporting wouldn't be too bad either!

That's me all rambled out! Cheers all.

Is Alessio Cerci of Torino an option at all? Always impressed when I saw him, personally thought he was a little unlucky not to get a look in for Italy during the World Cup.

Also, Sofiane Feghouli? good player for Valenica impressed for Algeria, amongst others. Maybe wouldn't be keen to come in and play such a heavily rotated role but with the amount of games we may end up (should all go as well as I hope!) we'll need a large squad.

One final one for me, Patrick Herrmann from Monchengladbach. Someone that excited a season or so back, but I've not been following German football or his progress at all. Is he a player that we could potentially have looked at?

Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - There is no Liverpool interest in Cerci that I am aware of. Torino purchased the remainder of his contract earlier this year so owns him outright. Everton and Palermo have enquired. Bayern Munich, Arsenal and Manchester United looked at the start of the season and both Manchester City and Chelsea have made enquiries that may lead to an offer. Roma has had an offer rejected.

Liverpool has shown no interest in the others.}

I agree to with both all these posts above to a certain extent. Sakho has all the resources in the world available to him, mistakes do happen, but at this level and with the information and care (doctors, club scientists, conditioning coaches etc) this is unacceptable. That said, I doubt he did do it with any intention to gain a playing edge through the use of supplements, but purely to help him shed a few lbs.

As for the idolisation of players and that being a reason to release him, I have to disagree. He took a fat burner, he didn't go on a cocaine fuelled weekend bender. I do however, understand the point you make. But there are far worse things to concern your kids about than fat burners, but a line has to be drawn some where, down to interpretation I guess in terms of the severity.

I don't know the ins and outs of what he took and why it's banned but it seems extreme some of the reaction. Personally, I believe the club should keep him, but ultimately suspend him (or at least his pay! ) for the duration.

Alonso from Real Sociedad, a good not great player.
Mascherano from West Ham, a good not great player.

They elevated their status in the game whilst with us and earnt their 'galactico' moves. We can't feasibly bring in whatever many class as 'great', at least not currently. So we go the echoelon below and hope we come across more Alonso types, who flourish and become world beaters.

imagine if we were trying to bring in the then Real Sociedad, Xabi Alonso now. Many would be in meltdown!

Maybe he has more than them targeted? Maybe he has plans to promote Rossiter / Williams? Maybe he's repaired relationship with Lucas and is content with him as his no.1 DM?

I'm also certain that regardless of the possible answer, there will be people that will still moan.

Let us not forget it's only just the start of June, not only will business be done throughout and most likely most prominent at the end of the summer, but the media will link about 5million different players to us before then.

Ings, whilst he may not be the top teir of player we all crave, I think he can be a very good assest for us.

In the few games I've seen of him this year, his movement really stands out for me. He maybe isn't a top class finisher but with his movement off of defenders there's no reason he couldn't score goals for us.

Based on that alone, I think he's already an upgrade on all of our options barring Sturridge. That being said, I do like Austin as well, but Ings would probably be a better fit for us out of the two.

007, if the stats are correct, then they are factual, no? So, as mentioned, you can twist and stat or fact, to suit an argument.
