Hi Ed002, hope all is well and you’re enjoying the World Cup.

Several very reliable journos have outlined what we all knew. That is that Bellingham is the number one target for summer. Just a question of could Liverpool really pull off that deal? The fee would be huge and the wages would also be huge, just wondering whether it’s actually realistic or not?

Another journo also specifically mentioned that LFC had Jude as top targets along with two South American players. I think one is fairly well documented, in being Moises Caicedo but who would the other be?

Do we see Brighton being open to selling Caicedo in January also?

Thanks!

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool are one of theclubs interested in Bellingham and something may be possible. I am not aware of any declared interest of Liverpool in Caicedo who would be a Fabinho replacement. A younger DM player in Joao Gomes is of interest to Liverpool but would again be a Fabinho replacement - and that is not an immediate need. But Liverpool are keen. I suspect the other player mentioned would be Jhon Duran a young left-sided Cplumbian forward discussed between Chelsea and Chicago Fire when discussing another transfer. May need to be loaned back initially if a move is to go ahead. Liverpool and Manchester United have had scouts watch him.}

If i'm not mistaken Ed2, you also said that Liv have spoken to Florentino Luis agent.

Both Joao Gomes and Florentino Luis is defensive midfielder right? Are Liv actively looking to replace Fabinho? Any team interested in Fabinho if he is to be available?

{Ed002's Note - Florentino Luis is not South American. Right now I expect Fabinho to stay.}

Thanks Ed002.

Always saw Caicedo as a bit more b2b as opposed to being a sole CDM.

Interesting to hear about the others.

Thanks for the info!

Imagine Joe Gomez passing the ball to Joao Gomes.

Could Enzo Fernández be the other? I know he’s just moved but seems certain he’ll be on the move again come the summer for crazy money. Incredible player, makes Benfica look a different side - still unbeaten in all competitions this season.

Its just that both are DM and direct Fabinho replacement. Will Joao Gomes get a work permit Ed2 without significant transfer fee? How good is he?

{Ed002's Note - They will look for something like £30M plus in the summer.}

Fabinho needs replacing desperately imo.

I'd say we need 3 midfielders a CB and a forward. Bellingham is fantastic but is he worth leaving ourselves short over? I can't see us spending over 100m on one player and still bring in 3 or 4 more.

I agree OneK. We need 2 central mids in Jan to secure 4th. Then another in summer, a CB, and the forward has to be able to play on the right.
Coz Nunez Fabio Diaz Jota all can play over the left but only Salah right. (Not convinced on Elliot out there at all)

Dont think the club will buy a backup to the always fit Salah when they have Gordon and Doak coming through there.

Joao Gomes would be a good choice.

I don't buy that FSG would not get their money back, should they spend big prior to leaving as the new players will be considered assets to be included in the valuation process, and besides, a team doing well is worth more than one which is not. let's take the Champions league as an example, particularly the income stream available as each stage of progression is achieved.
By buying a couple of players now, we have more chance of success, which means more profit for FSG and more appeal to potential buyers.

Spaceman - Any player/ players bought would be financed by the club not FSG, eg. from current club revenue or borrowing/ payment etcs. So would make little difference to the valuation, they may even have a negative effect due to increased liabilities on the balance sheet.

I would think that we would not sign anyone in January unless a buyer is found and an agreement is struck to make signing presale but I would not think that is possible.
