Would like to start this by stating that Jordan Henderson is by far my favourite captain. I grew up in the 80s. Hansen was and is a legend. I've met him. He's quality. Very Scottish in the best way. Loved Stevie. That Istanbul final. Many many occasions to feel he was the best. So many black arm band players in between. But Hendo. Wow. See him. Hear him. Watch him. He's beyond so much that noted. By far England's true captain.

I appreciate that the new contract offer should and may actually include an opportunity after playing. Maybe that's my appreciation of him and not fact.
To lose him would be more detrimental then just on the pitch.

But and always a but. If he wants to go. If we have offered something acceptable for a player, regardless of stature, a player who is often injured due to commitment and 30s, but he wants to move then I hope it's smooth and without drama. I also can see Saul link might be Hendos replacement not Ginis. Makes more sense thinking about JH.

I love hendo too but he definitely needs phasing out as we have a very aging squad and we need to refresh over the next coming years. Reduce his playing time this year and next then let him leave I'd say. I can't see him being as fit as milner and he relies too much on his energy and stamina to convert to say a deep lying player. Love the bloke but times ticking.

Nice post Grobs tash, my take on the situation is as follows, he still has 2 years to run on his current deal so why this whole episode has blown up is beyond me, there is even talk of him leaving before the current season starts= no chance in hell is that happening.

Not many players get to play for liverpool for 10 years and achieve what he has achieved, not only one of our best ever captains but also a world class role model for our next crop of youngsters, he wanted to succeed at liverpool he blocked being forced out and he made sure he had the career here that he wanted through sheer grit and determination.

I will freely admit that i thought we had overpaid for him at the time but gladly i was wrong.
What he brings to the club on and off the pitch is immeasurable but like any other player when the time comes he will be replaced, that time imo is a long way off yet.

Both millie and Hendo are what our young players should aspire to be in terms of professionalism I'd love both when they retire to be kept on by the club in some capacity top pros top human beings HENDO CAPTAIN FANTASTIC.
