For ed002,

I know it's a slightly odd question which has no real answer but I'm interested in your opinion.

Pretty much all transfer fees are never paid in full up front with almost all spread across X time period.

I'm curious why you think the media is reporting the signing of thiago with a focus on only paying 5m up front? It's not really any different than any other transfer but there is a definite focus on consistently pointing out it's only 5m up front.

Why do you think that is?

{Ed002's Note - I don’t know what is being reported but until details of the transfer are registered on the TMS next week the costs will not be clear.}

Was wondering that myself to be honest.

adding focus to tiny details perhaps brings the impression that they have good 'sources'.

the details may or may not be true but im certain there are people who would believe it more when they add in these 'details'.

See I was thinking that it could be the club stating its 5m up front as a method of maintaining the image that we're a club with no money (which we are) because when you claim to not be able to afford 30m then suddenly come up with the money people start to think it's just a negotiating tactic.

But I'm a sports psychologist not a business guy so I'm likely seeing things that aren't there.

Can anyone see transfer fees on the TMS.

{Ed002's Note - No, it contains a lot of additional information.}
