Diego Cavalieri, Martin Skrtel, Daniel Agger, Sotiros Kyrgiakos, Martin Kelly, Alberto Aquilani, Lucas, Jay Spearing, David Amoo, Milan Jovanovic and David Ngog

The above is a team once put out in a game under roy hodgson when he was manager

compare it to the team we have now
and even with the reserves it still looks miles better then this

we as a club, squad and team have come a long long way so please to those that are acting like spoilt kids over transfers show a bit of gratitude.

My only memory of Jovanovic was the opening day of the season against Arsenal when he bizarrely went for a diving header on the halfway line an completely missed the ball 🤦‍♂️🤣.

Its amazing how the club have developed, for sure. Back then we were fumbling around in the transfermarket, with no clue and clear strategy.

It came to the point were i was actual concerned about Liverpool ever coming back and reclaim their spot as one of the best clubs in Europe.

Personally i think the difference between us and clubs such as Newcastle, Leeds, Deportivo la coruna and so on, are down to the likes of Stevie staying, fighting keeping the club in the sub top.

For me, Daniel Agger is a real legend though. Do you think otherwise?

If Daniel Agger had be able to steer clear of injuries he could have been a all time great, i don't think he makes the legend list, although i will never forget the goal vs west ham and of course that goal vs chelsea in the champions league semi- final at anfield.

Those were dark days to be a red! Got to feel a little for Roy he didn’t have much to work with.

Id only take Lucas and Agger out of that team. Even then it’s debatable whether either player would get in our current side.

Lucas was a good player. I think he was our best player for a while under Kenny.

Agger was excellent and could easily make this team if fully fit.

if you ever needed any further proof that walter has never been anything other than a pure wins up, then thee it is! Agger was absolutely excellent no doubt, but he is purely exsclusively a LCB so no he definitely would not easily get in the current team at all. I have fallen for the bait I know.

Neither player would get close to this side, IDreamOfGini. Agger was technically excellent but frequently outmuscled and bullied by powerful strikers. He also played in VVD’s position. With Lucas it’s a similar story - technically great, physically appalling. I never rated him as a PL player, though it’s not surprising to see what a success he’s made of Serie A.
