This one for you mate ( Ed01 ) .
Whose better? Lukaku or Benteke.
Lukaku first touch is terrible, But then he manages to score plenty.

{Ed001's Note - sorry I have only just got a chance to reply. They are much of a muchness to be honest, both miss far too many eash chances, both are big, strong and powerful. The main difference is, as you have pointed out, Lukaku has an awful first touch, whereas Benteke has a decent one. Right now, Lukaku is playing better, so, on form he is better, but Benteke has the potential to be better.

I am not trying to sit on the fence here, it is just it is not as clear as one is better than the other. Lukaku is putting in more effort and producing more movement, most of the time anyway, he still has games where he just doesn't bother, whereas Benteke is only showing flashes of his ability.}

Hate that kind of striker. Mobile quick nimble Centre Forwards are better suited to Liverpool than the lump. Always have been.

I think everton would miss lukaku far more than we would miss bentenke, that's the major factor for me, lukaku can go from being a world beater to bang average all in the same match, last weeks games vs west ham being the perfect example, he scored a brilliant goal, took a awful penalty which would have put them 3-0 up and like bentenke missed a 1 0n 1 with the goalkeeper, he is however having his best season in terms of goals.

A quick look at Drogba shows how much a big powerful striker can accomplish.

Drogba wasn't in the same mould as many other big, powerful forwards, though. He was a combination of that and superb technique - his technical ability was easily as important to his game as his physicality. Never hated seeing a player line up against us more than Drogba.

Lukaku is only doing well because he has the full confidence of the manager (by default as he`s the only decent one they have) and he`s been on that team for three seasons and the system is built to suit him which is why Neverton would be in a whole lot of trouble if he left and he will, if they don`t match his ambitions. Like KK said, he is capable of being world class, average to rank aweful, all in the same game. I do believe like Ed, that Benteke has the potential to be better as in, great header of the ball, greate pace, technique and overall, ability. It is in the effort and work rate dept that Lukaku beats him and that can be rectified but ONLY if CB wants it.

Completely agree Lowe. He was the only player (and I hate saying this) that I ever saw make Carragher look bad, at least consistently.

The think that gets me about Benteke is that he has the ohysical attributes but lacks the nous to use them. His movement is poor, his awareness is poor, and his capacity to impose himself physically appears almost non-existent. Sure he is down on confidence but the only way forward is to get your head down and graft. I can't see much evidence.
