Hey hjikle for someone who obviously regards him, her or itself as something of a logician you might want to try the first sentence again .

" They are interested in signing at x price' indicates that they believe they can sign at x price. It would therefore follow that they believe that x price is the asking price. "

You are, of course, making an assumption that there actually is an asking price (and you were going so well until the last bit. Why because somebody may want to buy something do you automatically assume that the current owner wants to sell it? As you say, if you don't accept the assumption or the assumption is false then the rest is just meaningless word play.

Whilst it is very refreshing to find somebody who believes press reports I think I'd have to disagree with your evaluation of the current situation.

However, let's accept your assumption as being true . I'm going to make an assumption that you may never have been involved in [ I'll be kind and say 'complex '] financial negotiations - if the assumption is erroneous then do please accept my humble apologies - but to assume that an opening bid matches the seller's expectation is, to be kind, quite naive. Rather (if the selle is any good) it sets the field for the seller to announce their (much higher) price. I believe that this opens the door to what is called negotiation or 'bargaining'

Of course it is also quite possible that a mischievous little imp has let slip a figure to various members of the fourth estate to 'test the waters' so to speak, perhaps to draw Sturridge's agent out into the open. That again would suggest that the assertion that it would "therefore follow" that the figure mentioned was the "asking price" was slightly wide of the mark

So I'll ask you specifically - how do you know there is an asking price for Sturridge and, if there is, how do you know what it is?

{Ed001's Note - obviously, for all your attempt at being clever, this is going over your head. No one has said it was the asking price, what was said is that if it was that low there would be no shortage of offers. You are so busy trying to pretend to be clever you are making a fool of yourself.}

Henderson's turn this year huh? Was Lucas's not so long ago - now the detractors seem to think we can't play without him. What goes around .

There are worse clubs to go to for development than Arsenal (not least us) . In though one door and out through the loaned door about ten minutes later.

For whatever reason O-C hasn't lived up to the sensationalist hype heaped on him by the press 3 or 4 years ago. Given we are interested in a wide player apparently he may be on a list but I would think there are probalby better alternatives.

To be fair to the lad - he is an unknown quantity. He may (or may not) have potential, hopefully our scouting system knows? What is sad is that as soon as the usual suspects are mentioned as being interested expectation (unfairly for the kids) goes through the roof. Also ironic that this thread is immediately below one about Jordan Rossiter - seems like half an hour ago that the 'new Steve Garrard' had a bright future.

How are West Ham travelling this season? Cresswell is a good player at a club playing well.

The think that gets me about Benteke is that he has the ohysical attributes but lacks the nous to use them. His movement is poor, his awareness is poor, and his capacity to impose himself physically appears almost non-existent. Sure he is down on confidence but the only way forward is to get your head down and graft. I can't see much evidence.

Lucas would be the sixth - especially if we want someone who can win the ball and communicate.

I think it is a question of how high you set the bar before making your comparison. We were 'far from impressive' compared to what? If it is what we are capable of then fair enough, If it is in comparison to the top sides in the world then it isn't really a fair comparison.
