Linked with a Basel CB - Manuel Akanji, any truth?

Okay some bad news. Barcelona manager had just came out and said Dembele and Coutinho are close.

LesDennis

1.) 17 Aug 2017 04:23:50
It owuldn't exactly be a shock if Coutinho did leave mate this is not out of the blue.

2.) 17 Aug 2017 07:11:36
if it happens, it happens at this point. can also look at it this way - vvd and that kid from leipzig were "close" like 5 times each.

3.) 17 Aug 2017 07:25:35
He'd have to say something to appease the fans after the thumping they got last night!

4.) 17 Aug 2017 08:14:47
Don't believe the hype, OP. Barcelona are in decline as it stands right now and with the shalacking they received from Real (w/ o RM breaking a sweat, really), something needed to be done to calm the socios down as they are out for blood. I do know that Dembele is nearly done. As for Cou, FSG have stood their ground so we'll see what happens.

5.) 17 Aug 2017 08:40:33
I don't see why you'd want to keep him at the club personally, if he wants to move and its his dream, hardly going to be a good atmosphere around the club if you force him to stay. Should thank him for the service and keep it amiable!

6.) 17 Aug 2017 08:41:44
For the record, Gomes and Rakitic played last night and were utterly woeful. I would hope that brings to an end the idea that they would be acceptable in a swap.

7.) 17 Aug 2017 09:23:53
Didn't need to watch the game to know that Raki and Gomez are crap, Dennis. Barcelona wants rid for a reason.

8.) 17 Aug 2017 09:53:29
DeanW - because we cannot replace him at this point in time and he made the decision to try and force a move the day before the start of the season. The second part alone should mean he's forced to stay with us and shouldn't have too much issue with it - I know he's been interested in Barcelona for a while but the day before the season starting to come out with crap like 'problems with klopp for six months' and demanding a move is unacceptable.

9.) 17 Aug 2017 10:15:39
Take away all the issues with letting Coutinho go, not being able to replace him etc. I hope we stand our ground just so that somebody turns around to Barcelona and says no. They might not have tapped Coutinho up but they haven't shown Liverpool any respect in the way they've gone about trying to sign him. We have him on a 5 year deal, it's World Cup year, we don't need the money so keep a strong position and don't sell him. He won't sulk unless he wants to lose his place in the Brazil team. Before anyone says it either I don't condone how we've gone about trying to sign players either.

10.) 17 Aug 2017 10:23:16
He couldn't put a transfer request in before Barcelona had put an offer in, if what the Ed's have said is true its been on the cards for a year, and hardly surprising that a top class player is getting looked at by richer clubs! So that's management issues

He is a good player, but I don't believe scoring goals is our issue, so I personally don't see a huge requirement for "replacing" him. After all surely our defense is the worry right now! plus we have 2 weeks of the transfer market left, plenty of time to sign someone if we don't constantly dither around.

11.) 17 Aug 2017 12:40:13
I think we've already seen Barcelona will use all kinds of spin to try to appease their fans and get what they want including briefing the press and releasing false propaganda. I'd take it all with a pinch of salt until any official announcements are made. Either way just chill we'll be just fine.

12 Aug 2017 23:14:59
Any truth in rumours Lorenzo Insigne being a target if Coutinho leaves?

LesDennis

1.) 13 Aug 2017 00:05:29
Fing hope so.

2.) 13 Aug 2017 00:33:01
Ed002 mentioned Laxalt and Meyer. But Insigne in my opinion is a class above them two and a real gritty player considering his dimuntive stature.

3.) 13 Aug 2017 01:53:01
Laxalt is a VERY poor player, I'd prefer to play Moreno there. Don't know much about Meyer.

4.) 13 Aug 2017 09:40:00
Insigne is quality.

5.) 13 Aug 2017 15:25:11
the problem we have now is that the football season is back up and running, just about every team will be hanging on to their best players . so forget about Insigne .
my bet is that, Klopp has now washed his hands over Couts, who will leave early this week, we will either waste the money, or spend it foolishly .

6.) 13 Aug 2017 19:54:33
There are still teams who will sell us their best players. We are doing it are we not? He is a difficult one to replace though. Would rather s Gerrard type player than a cout's type. If we can get kieta I think we'll be fine. Let's wait til September before we judge klopp on transfers. As things stand, it's not enough.

Eds reports increasing that we will not replace coutinho this window but loom to make a deal this window for a transfer to happen in the summer as unlike Liverpool, teams don't allow their best players to leave in Jan. Is this now looking to be the case?

LesDennis

{Ed002's Note - To the best of my knowledge nothing has changed from what I have been telling you. There are potential replacements that the club need to consider - one or two are available to sign pre-contracts now. We are less than a week in to the transfer window and apolgies that Liverpool are not signing players every single day.}

1.) 07 Jan 2018 14:04:59
Well we should. A player a day keeps the whiners away.

2.) 07 Jan 2018 14:15:02
Football fan's and patience do not go in the same sentence Ed mate.

3.) 07 Jan 2018 14:21:16
I'm not being impatient I'm asking you about the rumour that we are going to wait until the summer to make a signing as this is a rumour website.

{Ed001's Note - and this question has been answered repeatedly so why not try reading instead of gobbing off?}

4.) 07 Jan 2018 15:16:07
Patience is poison to the modern day fan.

5.) 07 Jan 2018 15:52:02
My god its long reading this page sometimes, same stuff over and over.

03 Jan 2018 15:07:58
Ed, Ballague ....

LesDennis

{Ed002's Note - Try the Real Madrid page.}

14 Dec 2017 18:30:52
Ed what's your opinion on giving coutinho the captains armband when he has made it quite clear he does not want to be at the club. Is it another big Klopp mistake sending a bad message to the rest of the team? Who would your shout be if Milner and Henderson don't play?

LesDennis

{Ed001's Note - captains should be centre backs for me, they can see the game in front of them and are close enough to bawl out the rest of the team. Coutinho does not deserve it.}

1.) 14 Dec 2017 20:38:27
Cou may not deserve it globally and that is fine. However, Klopp it is reported, googled who the longest serving player was amongst those that would start and saw that Cou was said player hence, he gave it to him. Ed, I take your point as to me, CB's or certain mid's should be captains.

Les, I think you are reading too much into this capt. stuff as I am sure Klopp does not care what all the innuendo or whatever as no manager works that way so to me, there was NO mistake there and bte, we won that game 7-0 with Cou scoring a hatrick. Nothing to see here, really.

2.) 14 Dec 2017 22:10:30
I agree with Ed on this to be honest. I was captain for my last team but i played as a striker. I used to scream at people but the defence can't hear you. In the end i switched to midfield mainly because it got me closer to the action and my team mates could hear me. It has to be someone in the thick of the action.

3.) 14 Dec 2017 23:00:17
BR couts was captain against west brom too!

4.) 14 Dec 2017 23:12:02
According to BR, Klopp never does a mistake 😄😄. So much love. I wonder, what will happen if Klopp gets the sack!

5.) 14 Dec 2017 23:55:54
the worst thing is having a striker yell instructions at the rest of the team on defending lol.

6.) 15 Dec 2017 00:01:50
If Klopp gets the sack we will go backwards fast Harry. You don’t appreciate what you’ve got until it’s gone. Just remember that when you’re picking at every little decision he makes whilst not giving him any credit for the good decisions he makes.

7.) 15 Dec 2017 00:12:44
Firstly, I would hope Klopp knows enough about his players that he doesn't have to resort to Google to see who's been there the longest.

Secondly, since we're not exactly blessed an abundance of leadership in the dressing room, I can sort of understand Klopp giving it to the longest serving player in the absence of Hendo and Milner, rather than trying to pick the best leader from who's left, something I'd consider extremely difficult because I honestly don't think any of them are captain material at the moment. However, when the longest serving player actively wants to leave and is a complete non-entity without the ball, maybe you should look at giving it to someone who's guaranteed to at least put a shift in.

I'd have given it to Firmino.

8.) 15 Dec 2017 00:35:23
I don’t think there’s many true captains in the premier league. It’s become more of a ceremonial position rather than the manager on the pitch like it used to be. Kompany maybe when he actually plays? Johnny Evans? Spurs have Lloris which baffles me as most games they play he spends most of his time at least 40 yards from the nearest player!

9.) 14 Dec 2017 19:29:08
Lovren matip or klavan then ed001 aha?

{Ed001's Note - yes. Klavan is the captain of his country and Lovren plays better when he has responsibility.}

10.) 15 Dec 2017 02:21:42
Oh! I truly appreciate what he is doing at the club, In the mean time I am also aware he is poor in certain other departments and his future, I repeat his future truly depends on the performance of the team as a whole!

11.) 15 Dec 2017 06:30:18
Something red. He actually told everyone in interview after spartak that he used google.

12.) 15 Dec 2017 08:05:37
Unbelievably Faith in works, i was probably the best defender in the team i played for! Most the goals i scored i had to win the ball back myself. It was the worst team I've ever had the misfortune of playing for.

13.) 15 Dec 2017 09:05:20
It's a political ploy to wake up Henderson.

14.) 15 Dec 2017 10:52:42
Exactly, Lfcfan. Harry, Klopp makes mistakes and at the same time, tries to learn from them. That is all I care about as no manager is perfect. You saying his future depends on the perf. of the team BUT that is NO news to anyone as it applies to every manager in any league. Harping on this point all the time, is not helpful.

If Klopp gets the sack and deserves it like BR did, I have no problems as in the end, it's part of the job. What I have issues with is people losing their marbles each time we draw a game (not even lose) and start saying Klopp is this or that or has not taken us forward or cos he has not won the PL or trophy fast enough for them, then he needs to go.

That is what I have issues cos careful what you wish for. Klopp will get the Bayern job tmrw if he leaves. We will get a manager inferior to him. Remember that, when people start losing their marbles again after a draw.

15 Nov 2017 09:54:37
any chance of an updated list of elite youngsters/ wonderkids from around world football ed?

LesDennis

{Ed002's Note - I asked someone for a list recently - it is here somewhere. Else remind me next week please.}

1.) 15 Nov 2017 10:15:20
I saved it to my phone because I'm a sad act 😂

{Ed002's Note - It is very difficult to make such predictions but someone in the know suggests it is worth keeping an eye out for Josip Brekalo (who nearly ended up at Everton a while back), Atakan Akkaynak (who could well end up in the Premier League next year), Adrien Bongiovanni (could end up being on the fringes this year, still one to look out for in the future) and, particularly, Steven Bergwijn. }

Enjoy you-tubing Bergwijn! I know i did 😂

In contrast (i believe it was) Ed001 also offered up Mbappe, Dybala and Asensio as the 3 players he sees competing for the Ballon D'or over the next decade. They're more well known i suppose though.

{Ed002's Note - Thanks. Another is Pietro Pellegri - a 16 year old that has already been the subject of a discussion with a Premier League side with talk of a a €50M and a three year loan back.}

2.) 15 Nov 2017 10:37:15
Someone wants help with their football manager team ;)

3.) 15 Nov 2017 10:26:47
No problem Ed002. Saves you having to bother your contact by asking again 😊

Wow, €50m for a 16 year old 😲 incredible where football is headed! Do you ever see there being a transfer for €500m+ Ed002, or do you think the bubble has to burst at some point? If/ when this break away league happens it will take all the money in the game with it, and in my opinion €500m will be easily affordable. In fact i would not be surprised if there is a player transferred for €1billion in the next 20 years.

{Ed002's Note - Once the breakaway comes it is probable that transfer fees will keep on rising for the "elite" sides and they will need to be capped somehow for the rest of the leagues. The "elite" sides are getting together on December 12th for one of their regular meetings - there is no agenda yet but the breakaway could come up again.}

4.) 15 Nov 2017 11:27:54
Thanks Ed. Keep up the good work.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

5.) 15 Nov 2017 17:34:51
Ed002. Hi I remember you said before that some of the elite sides don't like to do business with Liverpool. Are we any closer to getting a seat at these meetings?

After the shambles of the summer are we starting to get our act together in terms of relationships with over clubs? and have we learnt any lessons in terms of future transfer dealings?

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool won't be attending any of these meetings any time soon.}

6.) 15 Nov 2017 17:42:56
Eds 002, not after too much info but are LFC excluded because of FSG or a previous owners behaviour, just curious.

{Ed002's Note - It is unimportant.}

7.) 15 Nov 2017 22:17:02
And that’s why this elite league will never happen. Surely the idea of an elite league would be that the majority of football fans would support one of the elite teams in it. As Liverpool are one of the most supported teams in the world that rules out a lot of people. Plus, who would care if there was an elite league of European teams when your own team has no chance of ever joining it? I certainly wouldn’t watch it. It’s not what football is about for me. The Huddersfields need to have a chance to play against the best. The Leicesters need to have a chance of winning the league. It’s what makes our game exciting. You take that away and it just doesn’t mean anything.
The Champions League is kind of an elite league now but at least the lower teams like Leicester and Spurs can get in to it.
I like most fans want us in the champions league so we can afford the players to win the premier league. The CL just doesn’t fill me with the same excitement of a premier league game.
In short, this elite league is a complete non starter and would be the death of football.

{Ed002's Note - You are living in a strange world - none of it is about Liverpooo.}

It's nothing like balotelli. Keita is class and has been one of the most sought after midfielders in the world last couple of seasons. Coutinho faked 2 injuries to not play for us would you say he was like balotelli?

I'm sure macca is wrong sometimes what he says shouldn't be taken as gospel. As Ed002 says. Why would Klopp play him 90% of the games since the dispute if he doesn't fancy him.

Mignolet being a good shot stopper is the biggest myth in the football. He is a dreadful shot stopper, most shots he faces go in and im sure he currently has the lowest percentage of any goalkeeper in the premier league.

the problem with Karius is that he has only had a handful of starts and has already made 3 or 4 major mistakes leading to goals which is why the fans are on his back, he has showed hardly any promise and always leaves a question mark against his name whenever he comes in.

Does the sale of players count towards what the club earns or are the rules just toward commercial incomings?

LesDennis

{Ed002's Note - Player sales count and that is the way MST clubs raise money toward the purchases.}
