I want us to go for it no matter what now third is guaranteed. We are capable of whacking up a cricket score so why not?

Whatever happens though I'm immensely proud of the way the team has performed this year. People both personally sent and through websites have said to them its the Best football played ever but we don't see it as much as we're too close

Tbh it's a good call. but it's been one he'll of a ride!

Spot on! We go till the end and leave it all out on the field with NO REGRETS. #Believe!

Really shocked by the Everton supporters today, why sing songs about Steven Gerrard when their own team are playing and we're nowhere in sight? I feel sorry for the team. Massive, massive respect for Matinez and the Everton players, sadly not so much for their supporters. anyway, we digress. The point I was going to make is that this season has been a blinder, whether we win, come second or third. I have confidence that Brendan will not let us be a one season wonder, and he will build on it for next season. It's amazing that we have even challenged for the title this season when at the start we were expecting to be battling with an outside chance for 4th. We will likely finish above a Sugar daddy Chelsea team, managed by Mourinho, which is great, scored more goals than City's magnificent forward line, and I've lost count of how many point united are away from us. I know not winning the league would be disappointing, but we can't lose sight of what we've achieved. CL football next season, I can't wait! I'm a very proud red indeed.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Only thing I surprised about is they had the imagination to make up a new song. Be sang around Woodison for the next 40 years that one

Agree0 Disagree0

Take it on the chin like we do, I've even had a united fan ring me up and sing it to me while I'm I'm the phone to him, it really grates the blues and united fans that we are going to possibly win the league, united have a few years in the wilderness and the toffees well need I say more.

I've got everything crossed that we win our last 2 games and that City draw one but to be honest, I feel more relaxed now than I have for weeks! It would be great to win and it will hurt after being so close but we have achieved more than anyone could have hoped for and there is still a chance with 2 games to go, and a chance of 100 team goals and records for Sturridge and Suarez.

If City win then good luck to them. If we give it everything we have and fall just short it will have been an incredible year. Here's hoping we go from strength to strength next year too!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Remember Suffolk Red.
This is Brendan's second season.
Just let that sink in a moment. His second season.
Even if we don't win it this year we will be challenging for it consistently under this manager (I hope).
The results from the 2nd half of his 1st season til now suggest that we may need to get used to this type of end of season.
It's not the end for us and this team. Its the beginning!

Agree0 Disagree0

We have had a blinding season, I agree. No matter where we come, the team and manager should be congratulated.

However if we lose the title on goal difference, people will bring this up and will say that all those goals conceded due to BR's attack only philosophy is what cost us the title.

To be honest, out defence is the priority thing that BR needs to work on as we don't want to be in another situation same time next season where we might lose the title because of our goal difference!

Non-LFC but what does everybody think of Stoke this season? Much improved imo and that's down to Hughes. Also think Assaidi is a cracking player for them, not good enough for us however.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

One of my favorite moments this season was the first game and the Stoke away fans singing "We're passing the balllllll. We're Stoke City. And we're passing the ball." Hilarious.

We've reached out target so I'm more than happy it's not over yet but can't see villa or west ham doing much but a draw from either will do! Imagine we win on goal difference! It's a tall order, but we've had a great season.

Two 6-0 wins anybody
You never know!
Come on the reds

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We had our chance but we let it slip against chelsea, still this season has been fantastic and we have exceeded all expectations.
It will still hurt for a while though, after being so close and watch the title slip away

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we should ban the word 'slip' after the Chelsea game. So feel for Gerrard. So close. I know it's only a game but this hurts.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't get it, we are talking like its already over. 6 points from 6 and you never do know.

Agree0 Disagree0

You right calmdown, got to stat positive!

Agree0 Disagree0

Think we would need more than two 6-0 results. I can see city spanking villa or wham. Two 8-0 might do it. Not going to happen.

Agree0 Disagree0

We still have or chance albeit a slim one. We play and fight till the end and finish w/ no regrets having given our all in going above and WAY beyond our expectations. #Believe!

Chin up lads . All we can do now is win our last 2 games and hope city slip up . City looked very nervous as the game went on so you never know . I got a feeling there is more twists to come even though city have 2 home games . I`m clutching at straws abit but we still got to believe . I don`t think the league was lost today or last week against chelsea I think if we don`t win it it will be games like the hull game and west brom games were we lost it . Can`t expect to win the league and let in 44 goals . Every one of us can be proud of what Rodgers has done he has worked miracles this season . If Brendan can get a few quality players to add to what we have now I believe we can kick on next season . Saying all that though I don`t think we will have a better chance to win the league . So come on lads dare to dream and you never know .

Andy .

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Whatever happens we've had a good season
Lets just win those two games
And score a shed load of goals
Who knows? Stranger things have happened.

Agree0 Disagree0

I expect Brendo to be telling the lads to try and score literally as many goals as possible all game. With our talent and our prize to fight for we should have 1000x the motivation of our next two opponents. It is really possible I believe, cross everything you have gents.

We've not had a good season we've had a great 18months.

Lets go for the kill!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I genuinely think we can close the goal difference down to maybe 3 or by the end of the season I would play a serious attacking team on Monday an just go for it if it works great of not so be it but let's end the season in style.
I would play Gerrard deep and then everyone in front all out attack maybe go with sterling Moses couts sturridge an Suarez.
No matter how the season ends this season has been a massive success and hopefully were only going to improve.
City looked a bit shaky today so it's not over yet .
I just hope this season isn't seen as a failure because of how well we have played.

Does anyone believe we could get close to catching the goal difference?

Agree0 Disagree0

Suarez - Sturridge - Sterling
Coutinho - Allen
Gerrard

playing 433 is how we got most of our big goal wins.

Agree0 Disagree0

Couldn't argue with that team HAYCH.
hopefully we just go all out the next 2 games.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would go 4-2-4. Lucas and Stevie holding and go with Coutinho, Sterling, Suarez & Sturridge up top.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would go 4-2-4. Lucas and Stevie holding and go with Coutinho, Sterling, Suarez & Sturridge up top.

Absolutely no reason we can't put 5 past Palace. They have nothing to play for.

Do any of you guys see Man Ciy slipping up at all? With both Aston Villa and West Ham not playing for much the pressure is off for them and hopefully they will have a right go. Aston Villa have got a decent counter attack with fast players and if West ham play the way they did against Spurs today they might pull of a shock. Hopefully Carroll and Downing will help us out in the final game of the season!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Let's beat Palace, first. Won't be easy. We then go into last match with an outside chance. At start of season we would all have thought we were on another planet, had we'd been told that would be the case. That said, at the moment I can't help but feel deflated. I was there the last time we lifted it and didn't think back then that 24 years later I would still be awaiting the 19th. My son was born that year and so as still not seen us win it. I'm really sorry for the negative post! I will be more positive tomorrow.!

After yet another crazy weekend in the Premier League I believe even more that the title is still on for Liverpool, I know Palace is a very tough game but the lads will want to bounce back strong. Now City may not drop points tonight but its not out of the question for them to in the another games, come on red men believe til the end.

Find it slightly annoying I'm even hoping for an Everton win but that's football. Saying that last week City fans where begging for a Chelsea win so this could make it even. Can't see anything but a City comfortable win but football is a strange game.
My question,, hand on heart if the teams swapped place, would you want us to beat City and help them out in the league? Personally,, I think it's a 'no lose' situation for them. Win then great, lose then it's curtains for Liverpools title

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I would yeah, I've been rooting for Everton to get in the champtions league (to be fair only since we starting creating a decent gab above them) but I think they deserve it this season. Ill be backing them tonight but I've also been rooting for arsenal to drop points as well. don't get me wrong if we were neck and neck I wouldn't. But that's football :)

Watching the Birmingham match, Robinson couldn't have been talking about Ibe when he said the loan players aren't taking responsibility. Their tactics in the last half an hour were basically.to give Ibe the ball and hope.for the best. Also he took.every corner and freekick.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I watched the second half of the Birmingham game ibe was fantastic man of the match for Birmingham in the 35 minutes he played so I agree iv not seen any of ibe's other games but he was best player by a country mile today

Agree0 Disagree0

He did actually say don't include ibe

Agree0 Disagree0

Do you boys think Ibe could return to Liverpool in the Summer?

Agree0 Disagree0

I certainly hope so. More so than any other player out on loan.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 May 2014 14:25:57
Out of all the players out on loan at the moment, who would you like to see brought back to the club and given a chance?
And who do you think should be sold (either to raise money or because they aren't good enough)?

I think we should bring back and integrate into the first team squad:

Suso - natural playmaker and Rogers type of footballer. If he develops as he could he will be an amazing player for now and the future

Wisdom - strong and quick, playing well in a good championship team and a natural leader. I think it would be a mistake to sell him at this stage of his career, especially with his versatility.

Borini - done well at Sunderland. Never going to be a natural goal scorer but could chip in as part of a front 3, works hard and has shown he has the head for big occasions with the goals he has scored in certain games this season.

McLaughlin - great prospect and with the uncertainty over Johnsons long term future, could be promoted and given a chance. Modern day full back who could save us a lot of money in the future.

Ibe - could certainly be part of the squad and make many appearances from the bench. Still only young but his pace could be an asset in tight games. Apart from Sterling we don't have many naturally quick wingers so worth a place.

Llori - played very well while on loan, good pace and composed on the ball. Just needs to have a bit more patience next season and a good attitude. Toure might not be here for many more seasons, and if Skrtel or Agger leave, there is a place for him, especially with the amount of games we will have next year.

I think we should sell:

Reina - legend but not going to displace Mignolet and wages are too high to be a bench warmer, deserves better at this stage of his career anyway

Coady - really wish it would work out for him but I can't see it. A year on loan in league 1 will not have prepared him for top flight football no matter how many games he has played, especially at his age.

Assaidi - hasn't really stood out at Stoke, scored a few spectacular goals but only 4 overall and still has no end product (2 assists all season).

Jack Robinson - seems to have stopped developing in the last 18 months or so. Hasn't shined for Blackpool (admittedly in a struggling team) so can't see him stepping up for us in the top division.

Coates - lack of pace and injury have held him back, won't be near first team with the depth we have at CB.

Ngoo - hasn't proved himself in a lower league and needs to be showing more at his age.

There may be some players I have missed out so add them to any replies.

These are just my opinion so I would be interested to hear what other fans would do.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I agree with all of them bar Assaidi, I think we should loan him for one more season, if he's the same then sell on. But can just see us selling him and then he starts smashing goals in. Plus Assisdi has scored 3 goals for stoke this season. Maybe one more year with stoke will be just what he needs to step up.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with everything except Mclaughlin
I believe he needs a year on loan in the premier League

Agree0 Disagree0

To be fair the only thing that has held Coates back is BR. He never gave the guy a chance even when he was fit.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hatch,
You have to be kidding me regarding Coates. He's slower than molasses. He need about 20 yatds to turn and just isn't up to snuff for this Liverpool side. Brendan wants a team built on speed and comfortable ball players. He's got a future in another system but just not at Liverpool.

I just heard a report on a radio station previewing todays games and according to the report, Everton will be missing mirallas, Barry, distan injured, might return? Baines doubtfull, he hasn't trained all week. I was fairly confident Everton would get a result but i'm not convinced now at all. City to win 2 0 I think. Micah Richard rumours flying about again,

Ed's do you think he's good enough for Liverpools first team? I remember him playing for city and playing pretty well but that was some time ago.

Thanks in advanced

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - not for me, he has shown a very poor attitude to training and it has resulted in injury issues. Steer well clear.}

I think we should go for Richards.

The lad did get abit to big for his boots, but he broke through at an early age.

Hopefully now he's realised his career could just disappear if he's not careful.

I think it would be a very good buy, he's got the talent just needs to get his head down.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - his talent is being big, strong and fast, not having actual ability. His reading of the game is woeful. If he wasn't homegrown, he would never have got another contract offer.}

Torres didn't do to bad for us being big, strong and fast

Right then Red's,
Spurs are currently 2-0 down at West Ham with Andy Carroll & Stewart Downing scoring and Younes Kaboul being sent off. How does this affect us, well let me explain. Spurs would go to 69 points level with Everton at least until 17:30. If Everton beat Man City then they guarantee Europa League football for next season. This league is not finished.
YNWA!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I appreciate that you are a Liverpool supporter and see things very differently to reality. You might want to ask someone about how points are allocated in football. Rarely does the losing team get given three points.}

Haha! I should have proof read the post. My point is as long as West Ham win then Everton could qualify for Europa League if the get a point from Man City at 17:30.

I have a question for the eds, I know there is a concern highlighted around the PL loosing a qualifying spot for the champions league and that english clubs dropping out early is the catalyst for this change from uefa but how close are we to this change happening?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - It is not possible to determine a timescale as it is entirely based on performance. Next season England will lose a lot of points right from the start because of Liverpool and Fulham - obviously that does not help. Manchester United will also not be contributing anything meaningful next season which drags it down further. You should be thankful Chelsea keep doing so well.}

03 May 2014 13:48:01
@ED - why should we be thankful? 4th spot means nothing to us we're top of the league mate ;)

But in all seriousness, I think we'll see improvements from City next season in the CL and I believe we will give a good account of ourselves. (Quarters+).

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It is too early to say - Liverpool are going to be hampered over the next two or three seasons by their ranking. They will start next season ranked something like 50 or 55 in Europe. It doesn't make it easy.}

Is this going to be a similar situation to City over the last few years in Europe?
When they kept getting the 'group of death'?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I haven't made the Chamions League draw for next season yet but it will potentially be difficult.}

I'm sure it will be very difficult ED. But we've never done things the easy way anyway. Plus, LFC in Europe always pull off fantastic results. It's been too frequent to be luck.

I'm going on record and state we will make it out of the group stages (jeez I might regret this).

Agree0 Disagree0

I think a lot of the top teams won't be looking at us as an easy game.

As long as we play like we have this season, and sort our defence out, I can see us troubling anyone.

Main objective next season is to make sure we make CL football again.

Not being an actual scouser I've never had a problem with evertonians! I know our matches are massive between the two clubs, but I seriously doubt that the fans won't back their team to beat city. I may be wrong, I hope not. If It does end up being a lack lustre performance, well what can we do? All I'll know is it would confirm the title "bitters"
But for one day only! Come on you blues!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You are wrong - with Everton having no real chance of top 4 now - all Bluenoses I know want City to win the league - and them to beat Everton today.

Surely we can hope for one more twist in this epic season of twists . Imagine what it must be like to be an Everton supporter today . If they lose, they will be reminded of this fixture for decades to come, the date will live in infamy, as someone once said .

Talk about engineering a player out of a club.

Just a quick question Eds. If the English teams do well in Europe for a couple of years on the trot, is there a possibility of the Premier League ever getting a 5th Champions League spot?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - no.}

The Premier League already had a '5th spot'. When we won the Champions League and finished 5th in the Premier League and Everton finishing 4th. England had 5 teams in the Champions League, in some capacity the next season.
