ED033 my good man, I intend on making an article. To boldly go, where many many posters have gone before. I'd like all the article bells and whistles please. I'll take a page from LFC-Mango's book and use a film adapted name. Please call it " The curious case of Darwin Nunez".

Darwin Nunez arrived to great fanfare last summer with a hefty price tag to boot. Banging goals, left, right and centre for Benfica and destroying some pretty impressive competition in the Champions league. We all thought he'd be our Lewandowski right. I know I did. And I'm never wrong.

It hasn't quite panned out like that in his first year and by the end of the year it appears that Gakpo is gaining the upper hand in the fight to be Liverpool's first choice centre forward going forward.

So where did it go wrong this season? Nunez is clearly very.

Davey, for me it’s like how do you solve a problem like Nunez? He could be our best player or he could spend most of the time on the bench. If we are to be really successful in the near future he must start but he has to be the best version of himself. I look forward to your article.

Davey, I don't think there is a Darwin problem. With what Ed01 has said in his article about the many mistakes made before this past season began, there was NO way a player as raw as him was going to flourish with the way we were playing which was poor from beginning to end overall.

As for Gakpo, the comparison is false IMO cos anyone with any ounce of footie knowledge can tell that Gakpo is the better footballer and is a bit further along in his development than Nunez is even though, they are the same age. That is just what it is. I believe both of them can play together as we saw when Utd got Seven-Up at Anfield so let's wait till preseason and see how Klopp can make it work with both of them.

It's not a comparison article so much OilRed and I agree with what you say above. Focus of this article is very much on Nunez. I think both Gakpo and Nunez have very bright futures with us. Nunez skillset is rare. If he makes the right adjustments to his game, I think he is our starter number 9 and a superstar in the making.

Gakpo can play a number of positions and will be a very important player also.

But we’re not willing to spend £120m on Jude Bellingham who would’ve started every game he’s available for the next 10 years ?.

@LiverpoolFC8, what you say sounds good re Bellingham at face value, but given he’s off for surgery now the season is over you have the first nagging doubt over his fitness for the next 10 years.

@Mark, I was not responding to Davey's article cos well, it is incomplete. I was responding to his first post directly.

As for your (weak) dig at me, Ed01 wrote the article as information we can all use for our analysis and to spark healthy debate on the forum which is what it has done hence, Davey's article.

Me using it as a reference is to show where my information comes from which helps form my opinion. It does not mean anything else BUT judging by your "dig" I guess you already knew all of that.

Oh shoot. I did not see Ed001 did an article on Nunez. Ed001 has an unbelievable eye for football. I just gave my take and did my best. Without seeing Eds version. Weird that I missed it. Usually keep an eye out for them.

I just use all your knowledge that yu provide as a tool to form my opinions and judgement so I quote you cos I did not come up with the information on y own and honestly, I would be stealing your knowledge and using it as my own which is just blatant dishonesty and theft. But it seems some on here are unable to fathom such things so when someone does this, they label him/ her as someone who cannot think for him/ herself without the Ed's input. You know, cos that's how simple life is to them. Sad.
