Carvalho is a decent bargaining chip for any deals with Portuguese sides, surely. He would do well to go there and play every week?

when was the last time anyone did these player exchanges. can't remember one. Maybe happens in Italy but can't even remember one there. clubs generally don't operate this, where I will give you a bag of oranges for a bag of apples and some money.

He's been refusing call ups from the Portuguese junior national teams, so I hardly think that Portugal is on his mind. I think his mind is made up as to where he wants to be and where his future lines up.

Carvalho already turned his back on Portugal when he told the Federation that he would look to play for England so not sure what favors he would be doing by going back there.

He’s 20 and we’ve signed three established (full international) forwards in the last three windows. In my opinion, Carvalho will need to show the coaching staff that he is improving in the coming pre-season but, If he can, then he might very well have a future with us.

as long as we continue to operate the way we allegedly do in the transfer market, then it seems unlikely we'll have many mates out there willing to do deals like this for mutual benefit.

When was the last time Liverpool either took a player from another club or used one of our players as part exchange in a transfer? I really can’t think of one and was wondering if we’ve ever actually done it?

Back in 2004, Antonio Núñez was used as a part exchange, when Michael Owen moved to Real Madrid but that's the only one that I can recall. He didn't stay very long but still managed to pick up a Champions League medal, so memorable and worthwhile for him, at least.

Basing an opinion on a rumour to write a 20 year old off and roping Klopp in as ‘proof’. The ‘for whatever reason’ actually means nothing.
