Assuming you've read it, what do you think of Roberto Firmino's new book, 'SÍ SEÑOR: My Liverpool Years'?

Apparently no one reads around here Kloppite! :D

Have you read it? What did you think?

Incredible season, one of the very best in the 45 years that I have been following the club.

Just hope that we can seal it with a victory in the Champions League but it's going to be really tough. If we play to the best of our ability, we will win it but it's a big if and if we fail, then it will be much more disappointing than today's result, as it will have been in our hands.

In terms of next season, I really think that this will be the one, especially if we can hold on to the current players and bring in Brandt from Leverkusen.

Was expecting to feel downcast after today but, in fact, have not felt more optimistic for a long time. Allez les rouges!

Agree with all that Kloppite.

Just posted on the official LFC site:

'Liverpool Football Club today issued the following statement regarding the future of Philippe Coutinho.

Liverpool FC can confirm Philippe Coutinho will be leaving the club after a transfer agreement was reached with FC Barcelona, subject to medical and agreement of personal terms.

The player now has permission to complete the usual formalities to conclude the transfer immediately. '

Onwards and upwards, I say. Should be a fun ride with Der Kloppmeister.

400 million pound buy out clause. And we've sold him for 140 pathetic.

2.) 06 Jan 2018 19:18:10
hahahahaha liverpoolfc8 is that a windup? the player wanted to leave, and we just got the 2nd largest fee for a player ever, behind neymar. He's a good player but he was a wantaway and was being a total tit. I say good business by the club and so long farewell.

3.) 06 Jan 2018 19:23:06
Good luck to him we will miss him but I’m sure we will survive just wonder why the change in stance midway through the season.

4.) 06 Jan 2018 19:24:30
They’re not going to buy for £140 million and put a buy out of £100 million are they?!
I see the FSG bashing has begun!

5.) 06 Jan 2018 19:39:22
Be glad when the talk on pipco stops and we can concentrate on players and challenging top 4.

6.) 06 Jan 2018 19:32:00
Tj red, what about mbappe?

7.) 06 Jan 2018 19:53:33
Liverpoolfc8 we paid around 8 million. And sold for 145 million. Which is roughly 18x the price we paid. Barcelona brought for 145 MIL and would release at 360 MIL, roughly 2.5x what they paid. What is pathetic about getting a huge re sale profit on a player that has 0% interest in pulling on the shirt again.

Academy player, Rhian Brewster, has just scored a hat-trick for England against Brazil, in the semi-final of the under-17 World Cup in India. Let's hope that he has a very bright future with us in the years to come and good luck to him and England in the final.

1.) 25 Oct 2017 14:28:22
I'll go with that kloppite. Sounds promising.

2.) 25 Oct 2017 14:38:38
Scored a hat trick in the quarters as well. He has a lot of potential.

3.) 25 Oct 2017 14:46:53
He's on fire at the moment, well played kid.

4.) 25 Oct 2017 14:49:00
Consecutive hat tricks and been playing well in u23’s too. Looks a very useful player with good pace and movement, with the knack to be in right place at right time, create a half yard on his market and a clinical finish.

Hopefully his development continues.

5.) 25 Oct 2017 15:20:37
Best thing about him is he plays like Firmino. As in he presses from the front, links up in deeper positions and can play some deft passes and flicks in and around the penalty area. Difference is, he seems to be naturally sharper in front of goal.

If he carries his goal scoring record into senior football it'd be amazing but I'm holding off on being hopeful of his future for now. He has only played at youth levels thus far and you only have to look at Mellor, Nemeth, Morgan, or Sinclair to know that it is a whole different kettle of fish when you step up to play with men. Hopefully he gets a chance to prove himself over the next 12-24 months because he is a class above nearly everyone in his age category. He's been playing u23's since he turned 16, so the u17's WC was always going to be easy picking for him. It is beneath him to be honest, but fair play to him for being grounded enough to just want to play football, regardless of the level of opposition!

6.) 25 Oct 2017 15:40:57
Sinama pongolle got the golden boot at the U17 wc once.

7.) 25 Oct 2017 15:54:11
Very good point Benny. Men's football is just so much harder. That's why i have faith in Arnold, Woodburn, Solanke, Gomez and Grujic though. They've shown signs they can cope with it.

Arnold has looked assured on the ball, lethal from set pieces, and physically capable since stepping up into the first team on a regular basis. Though he is no right back, long term.

Woodburn has already scored in competitive senior games, and against top opposition in pre-season.

Solanke has scored goals in the Dutch first division at 18 and also against top opposition in pre-season for us.

Gomez was Charlton's best player by 18 and is already our best centre back in my opinion.

Grujic led Red Star Belgrade to the title, and has also performed well against top teams in pre-season.

So far there is no evidence to suggest that Brewster will cope with the step up. So whilst i would love it if he did, i will avoid any hype so i don't disappoint myself if he can't adapt! Does he deserve a chance though? Definitely.

8.) 25 Oct 2017 15:59:19
Well done to him but remember he might just have developed quicker than others. Let's not hail him as the greatest starlet just yet. Leave him to his craft and keep a quiet eye on him.

9.) 25 Oct 2017 16:37:49
Good point sbout those players Mk but sadly none of them except Gomez will get enough games to show their talent.
I feel Gurij is the next Markovic.

10.) 25 Oct 2017 16:47:05
Sounds like he has that instinct that can't be taught. That killer, goal scoring instinct that fowler had for example. Let's hope he has that professionalism that is just as important. He does sound promising though.

Does anyone know how that youngster we bought in the summer is doing? I can't rememberhis name but he looked like a little boy in the press conference. From eastern Europe I think. Was quite a big thing made of it so I thought he must be good.

11.) 25 Oct 2017 17:12:36
Good news is Woodburn signed a new long term contract :)

12.) 25 Oct 2017 18:43:17
Great news about woodburn. Hopefully he gets a few mins soon.

13.) 25 Oct 2017 20:16:19
England under 17s are managed by Steve Cooper who use to be liverpool under 18s Coach/ Manager left two years ago. Think Jurgen kicked him out of the door he also lost on penalties in European under17s FINAL this summer to Spain, who they could face in Final .

14.) 26 Oct 2017 01:35:36
Superred you may be talking about Tagseth? He’s playing no.8 for u18’s and doing well by all accounts.

In the u18’s/ u19’s I really like the look of Adam Lewis (converted from midfield and looking like an excellent LB now, and Camacho too. Jones and Millar look useful too.

U23’s have a few but I reckon Wilson, Dhanda, Virtue, Masterson, may all get a shot at some point.

We have a lot of talent at the academy but clearly there are only so many slots available and the step up is huge. I hope we arrange some strong loans next summer to get some of these kids some professional football at a place that will actually play them.

15.) 26 Oct 2017 05:49:23
Owen burst on scene too at 18yo. So it can be.

Wonderful responses from our neighbours and Newcastle fans, amongst others today, in response to the emotional events of this week. Interesting response, or lack of, at Sheffield Wednesday, however.

Wouldn't it be great if ALL fans, up and down the country, began to behave with basic decency, so let's start with us and let us never again hear the revolting chants about Munich. If there are any individuals out there, who still struggle to refrain from doing so on the grounds of decency, then do so on the basis that Sir Matt Busby was one of our own.

My faith was restored today. A new beginning? Let's hope so and for those of us directly affected by events of twenty-seven years ago, YNWA.

1.) 30 Apr 2016 17:44:07
Would love our fans to pack in the sick Munich chants, anyone who thinks its funny or smart needs to take a long hard look at themselves.
Let's take the lead on this now lfc!

{Ed025's Note - your spot on mate..

2.) 30 Apr 2016 18:04:23
I think that the club could easily nip this in the bud by educating the fans and marking the anniversaries of Munich by specifically referencing Sir Matt and his association with LFC. He was also Bob Paisley's closest friend and close to Shanks too, I believe.

Hard to believe these days but after the crash, the big Northern clubs all helped United out by loaning them players, to help them end the season. Coming only thirteen years after the end of the Second World War, I guess that people had different values then.

Ultimately, however, I think that most people are very decent and that shone through today.

I wonder who else may be under consideration, besides the ones mentioned above? Surprised that Unai Emery and Diego Simeone's names do not seem to be in the frame and whilst highly unlikely, given his current role, somebody like Luciano Spalletti would be an interesting option.

Kloppite

{Ed002's Note - The club has taken advice and is down to a short-list - they will not want to look further unless they have to.}

It's a bit of fun, I think, VV. All valid points that you make, although I disagree regarding Ancelotti. I have no issue with the links to Everton but then I am from an era, when there was no animosity towards our neighbours and I still hold true to those values. Life's too short.

Interesting article on the BBC (don't think that I am allowed to post the link), which posted the results of an analytics company into who would be most suited to take over from Klopp. In order of suitability, the results were:

Amorim
Nagelsmann
Tuchel
Postecoglou
Alonso
de Zerbi

Maybe if Madrid are so keen on Alonso, a deal can be done, with Ancelotti taking over at Anfield? Just joking, I think but I have always wondered how Ancelotti would have done as the Liverpool manager.

Back in 2004, Antonio Núñez was used as a part exchange, when Michael Owen moved to Real Madrid but that's the only one that I can recall. He didn't stay very long but still managed to pick up a Champions League medal, so memorable and worthwhile for him, at least.

Since the question is "Which player have you been most excited about when we signed" and not, in retrospect, I would have to say Xabi Alonso. Benitez enthused so much about him, so despite having virtually no knowledge of him beforehand, he would have to be my choice.

With the benefit of hindsight, obviously King Kenny but also the underrated Ray Kennedy.

Thanks for the response but astonished if this is the case, as he is only twenty-six and seems to be doing pretty well. What exactly were they expecting and whom do they want to replace him with? In terms of Sanchez, I'm not sure what to make of the situation. He was a magnificent player previously but then so was Torres, when he moved to Chelsea, the best player that I had seen in years. I guess that it goes to show how transfers can be a lottery sometimes. I think that Ed001 stated that Firminho told Coutinho that he was mad to leave Liverpool and maybe he was right, given what you were saying. Do you have any insight into what has gone wrong with either player?

Kloppite

{Ed002's Note - Coutinho has not been consistent - you pay a lot for a player and expectations are high. I don’t think there is anything to analyse.}

Interesting, why isn't it going well? I thought he was doing all right at Barca. Wouldn't want him back though as it's rare for these things to work out and I'm not sure that he would fit in to the current system. On another note, Ed002, what do you think has happened to Sanchez? He is the player that I was desperate for us to have signed after Suarez left. Is he finished or is it just that he doesn't fit in with Mourinho?

Kloppite

{Ed002's Note - Coutinho is not playing as well as they had hoped and with many changes happening there is a chance they could look to move him on. Again it is not working out for Sanchez at MU, expectations are vast given the financial deal and he is not delivering - he is being offered around.}
