Seriously though. Where does TAA future lie within this team? Klopp has previously said that his position is right back. But this season has highlighted his weaknesses when the midfield legs are not present to offer protection to the full backs. Neither TAA or the coaching team have been able to sort this problem on the training ground.
TAA's assists, crossing etc are right up there with the best so you'd expect klopp to want him in the team but there has been no evidence of a change in formation to try to get the best out of him. Personally i would have tried a 3-4-3 with Trent/ Robbo as the wide playing midfielders. The 2 CM's would be responsible for supporting the 3CB, basically giving us an attacking 5 and a defensive unit of 5.
I think this should be worked on and used for remaining games. Klopp then has the summer to recruit the favoured personnel to then revert back to his favoured formation if that's what he wants.
It's so frustrating aaaaahhhhhhh!

One thing I noticed TAA do against Grealish yesterday was show him onto his right foot. It was as if Arnold didn’t know Grealish was mainly right footed. Grealish skinned him every time, made him look like Roanaldinho ?. It wasn’t as if Grealish was doing anything that fancy like. Basic defending was only needed.

We haven’t had 3 CBs fit to try and play 3-4-3. You would have thought years coming up against mane and now Diaz in training would have taught Trent how to defend. They haven’t and as much as I love him he needs a serious head wobble before we see Dele Ali part 2. Either we need to build our right side around him and put a DM/ CM who’s main responsibility is to cover Trent and let him have a free role or we move him out of defence. Simple.

Not to appear like I’m trying to kick him whilst he’s down if everyone is l talk in about Trent’s defensive weakness’s and his strengths his assists but this season he has 3 assists in all comps in 37 games.

Jota who offers absolutely nothing on a football pitch and who should be apparently sold has 4 more assists and in 2,100 minutes less of football.

Trent’s been off the boil this season going forward and defensively. But let’s be honest more or less every other player in the squad has been off the boil.

But with some you could find some positives. Unfortunately I’m not sure we could find many for Trent this season.

{Ed025's Note - to be fair JK jota is a forward and you would expect him to have more than your full back mate, the non- press system does not suit trent and to be fair to him he should have been dropped months ago, but thats down to the manager who has been over loyal to a number of players..

Trent was never a good defender in the first place. Not sure why people are very surprised. He need a dedicated destroyer by his side! And that is not Harvey Elliot unfortunately.

Ed0025 I agree mate. A forward is 9/ 10 realistically going to have more assists than a full back but my point is Trent’s defensive responsibilities often get excused because of his creativity.

But he has a severe lack of that this season as well. I look know assist stats might not paint the picture but having watched him live numerous times this season my eyes tell me the same thing.

I’m sure someone will tell me I’m wrong and they see differently though from their buffering stream.

{Ed025's Note - his body language looks awful to me JK, the smile seems to have gone and enthusiasm is lacking as well, he needs to be taken out of the firing line for me mate..

@JK sorry mate but Jota wasn’t awful. Not a single attack came through the left side yesterday. You need through balls for your forward to run. Not one came from our midfield or center backs! It was always pass to Salah.
Jota is excellent in the air and is a real poacher inside the box but you need to find his runs. You need midfield to supply or full backs whipping in crosses. We did nothing yesterday.

In years to come, fans and pundits will look back on Klopp's time at Liverpool and obviously see the high full backs as being one of the major factors in the success.
It has always been a system with risk and, I feel, requires players with good pace and mobility.
Perhaps never more demonstrated than during the PL-winning season when everyone was fit and playing well.
A new midfielder (or two) and a CB will help.

Having said all that, the high full backs has increasingly become a point of weakness, particularly on the RH side.
And certain teams, like City and Madrid, have used exploited it successfully.
I suppose Klopp will look at the risk / reward balance and decide from there.
Other teams that use 3 at the back don't necessarily use dedicated CBs, so it would be possible to implement.
I'm not aware that Klopp has ever used it though.
Perhaps a fit Ramsey will offer a viable alternative to Trent next season or the young French lad that we're apparently interested in.
I still think a refresh, albeit a major one, will get us back on track.
