Evening and Eds and Fellow reds,

I just want to give a big shout out to Nat Philips, I think he has done such a great job this season. Especially when you think he didn't think he would get a look in.

Fellow reds will probably disagree but I really think he deserve the right to be number 2 and play alongside the big Dutch men next season and gain more experience from VVD. What's people's thoughts?

It feels like ages since we've had a number 2 since Clyne was our last one and he barely played in his last years with us.

I am surprised Trent or Neco didn't take it at the start of this season. I wouldn't have an issue with Nat taking number 2. When we've had Joe Cole and briefly Jovanovic as 10 and Diouf and Aspas as 9, Phillips as 2 doesn't seem so bad.

{Ed001's Note - Trent said he wouldn't change number so kids that already have his shirt don't pester their parents for a new one.}

He’s done well he’s solid and he’d look great beside vvd but I don’t think he’s better then Gomez close but!
I do hope he gets his chances he deserves them the lad would put his head to a cannonball!

Come on now. The guy is a world class Sunday league defender. I love the bloke and he's stepped in and done well, but he is a very limited player, let's take our red tinted glasses and see it for what it is. He would be a decent 4th or 5th choice CB, that's it.

But he deserves to be part of the plans. Gomez is rapid, but Big Nat is much better in the air than Joe. So when your playing long ball teams such as Stoke City, MK Dons and Everton, Phillips would be preferred
Also with Joe being made of confetti he’ll play many games.

I don't remember Jovanovic being no. 10, rufus. He was no. 14, and he left before Cole, so there wasn't a window for him to have no. 10. Funniest squad no. was Sakho going from no. 17 to no. 3. And then never making an appearance as no. 3.

As for Nat, he's done well. Doesn't look out of place in the Premier League. But I think his lack of pace means he'll never be first choice here. I'd keep him as a squad player definitely next season (cos I think with Virgil and Gomez returning from long term injuries, we should go into next season with 5 senior CBs) and after that for as long we can give him enough game time to keep him happy.

Jovanovic was 10 before Joe Cole arrived in the same summer. After Cole arrived, he switched to 14 to accommodate Cole.

I always thought 66 was a weird number Ed but then I realised 66 looks like his initials aa so it's kinda cool.

So Jovanovic never actually wore number 10.

Thunderbird, regardless of whether he wore it or not in an official games, Jovanovic is a previous Liverpool number 10.

There are absolutely no circumstances under which Phillips should be preferred to Gomez.

I owned a Liverpool shirt with number 10 on it so I guess I am also a previous Liverpool number 10.

Well seeing as they didn't sell any "Thunderbird 10" shirts in the club shop and there was no player profile on the club's official site for "Thunderbird, number 10", I don't think you do mate.

How many Jovanovic 10 shirts did they sell? I willing to bet the answer is 0.
