Question for for Ed's 001 I think, though happy for anyone else to contribute.

Mate of mine has landed a job with professor Steven Peters.

Charlatan, genius or somewhere inbetween is the question, I'm not convinced myself but interested in others opinions.

{Ed001's Note - I am not convinced, certainly is not a genius imo. If you believe someone enough then you can convince yourself they are helping you and he seems to be one of those. I don't believe he is a charlatan, I think he actually believes that what he does works, but I just disagree and think it is snake oil. Not that I disagree with the role he fulfils, just do not see him as outstanding in the field.}

I’ve read The Chimp Paradox and I have to say although it has merit if you can perfect his methods it’s hardly groundbreaking. It’s Tony Robbins in a different, somewhat simplified wrapper.
Problem is what he writes about isn’t simple so I think his efforts to make it so have failed and made it less relevant.
You can’t knock the guy though he’s made a fortune from it.

As a Cognitive Neuroscientist working on the Psychology and Biology of motivation, I think most of what he says about how the brain works is absolute garbage in terms of scientific accuracy. But that doesn't mean that what he says may not be useful for helping some athletes perform.

Some good bits in that Chimp Paradox but also a lot of guff about planets and universes. I suppose he had to fill it out a bit 😄.
