I heard that Fabinho prefers to play centre back, rather than centre midfield. Apparently he announced this to Klopp, after arriving at Liverpool. and that’s why he hasn’t been in the team.

But surely this is just media speculation? He was always professional at Monaco. I can’t imagine he’d demand to play centre back when he was clearly signed to play in a different position.

{Ed002's Note - He has never played as a centre back and would not sign after discussing how he will be used etc. Then show up and say he wants to play in a position he has never played before. It is simple and has been explained - he is taking time to settle. It is far from uncommon.}

I’m sure during negotiations there are discussions about how each player is seen as being used.

I’m with Ed on this. He’s taking time to settle, which is fine, we’re not short of options and when he does start to find his feet he’ll be better for having had time on his side.

I think that's where we have gone wrong in the past with some players, previously we have put new players straight in the squad before they have had time to adapt. Which usually results in poor performances, loss of confidence and then end up on loan or shipped out.

at least this way they can become accustomed to the team and then put in when required. Seemed to work with the likes of Ox and Robbo last year.

{Ed001's Note - Liverpool of old always used to put new players in the ressies to learn the Liverpool way, it was usually 6 months before they even got a sniff of the first team.}

I’m guessing it’s linked to the market pressure Ed001, 5 year ago we would of been chastised by everyone if we brought a player of a significant amount and not started him straight off. That was also due to the overall squad quality being lower then it is now so eyebrows would of been raised if a new purchase didn’t replace a konchesky for example.
Because our squad now has depth I feel we can take our time over certain players which in the long term benefits us greatly.

Thanks Ed002. I heard this from the match commentator on the Crystal Palace match. I can’t imagine where he thought this information had come from. Maybe he made it up to fill a couple of seconds of airtime!

{Ed002's Note - Maybe someone has been teasing him? To be honest football commentators in England are either ex players (typically dumb as a box of rocks) or failed hospital radio presenters.}

As a withering critiqued go. Failed hospital radio presenters is about as damning as it gets.
