Hi Ed001, I am going to bother you a lot from now onwards ;) . This regd Harry Wilson. Haven't watched full 90 mins of his play apart from highlights here and there. This is completely my point of view. Wilson from loan and his U23 playing style, I can get that he has good finishing techniques. My question is, can he be a good backup for firmino? He can be coached right for pressing and all round game play?

{Ed001's Note - impossible to say as I have never seen him play that kind of role. He certainly hasn't shown the workrate or desire needed.}

I've not seen anything of him in senior football other than highlights and a few cameos in preseason.

I did see a lot of him at youth level though and he would not suit the Firmino role at all. Firmino is one of the smartest and most selfless players in Europe. Maybe even the best false 9 to have ever played the game. We are blessed to have such a uniquely gifted player.

Wilson needs to prove he can be a good back up to Salah or Mane because he is very good when running at people and times his runs in behind very well. He is a goalscorer, but he won't press and he isn't good enough at holding up the play.

Firmino is a complete player. He scores, he creates, he wins the ball back, he is a target man, he runs the channels, he runs in behind, he drops deep, he has flair, he has tenacity etc. No other player in world football offers what Firmino offers, but Wilson is miles off being that complete as a forward.

Work rate and desire is needed first for klopp to even think about him.

If Wilson won't press and track back, then Klopp will show him the door. Scoring fancy goals won't cut it if the work rate and desire is not there. BUt the same applies for Shaqiri as well, who will need to start busting his gut if he joins. Klopp does not suffer fools or lazy players.

but I will say this, Coutinho before he left was as lazy as hell in the last few months and quite a few posters still wanted him to stay.

MK, I think klopp targets players with great pace on wings. Wilson isn't quickest by what I read. So it left firmino position. Wilson has great technique with goal scoring. Can he be transformed into another false 9 if solanke gets a loan deal. Yeah he isn't a target man but he can work on his pressing. He is young and can be coached right. But only if he put his mind and body into it.

Harry Wilson isn’t a false 9, he’s a wide forward. Not Mane or Salah quick but not bad and movement and touch/ goal scoring is decent. If he can improve his defending and work rate I think he has a chance. I think he’ll be a better longer term prospect than Shaqiri who has the X factor but can disappear and has a poor attitude.
