Dear editors

I am a lfc fans from hk. I have just followed this page for a few months and I would really love to thank all the editors, for your works about the team and also updating us the information. Those info are really professional, I am not saying about only the transfer gossip but your professional view on the skill set of a football player. I have some views on two current lfc players and it would be lovely if you can share your own view and correct me if I am wrong.

Emre Can - He gained a lot of thumb from his run with ball when there is enough space for him and as well as the accurate slide tackle. I do agree he has potential to become a very good player but I think he is too self centered? regarding himself more like of an AM rather than box to box or holding midfield. And I think that explain why he run really fast towards opponent box while not really keen on running to his own. It's not fair to comment his time under Rogers as he was played as CB or RB, I really can't get rid of the image that he tried to take the ball control from stevie in his RB position. Things really changed and he became more disciplined under Klopp but then it made me think that's why he think he didn't convince JK.

Loris Karis - Indeed I am never a fan of him. People talk about the clean sheet that he made but I think most of it should credit to the arrival of VVD who has been organizing an excellent defensive line. He did made a few very decent saves but I think that's what a Liverpool keeper should have done. And in fact, most of the time when i see him concealed a goal, he just try to wave his hands but obviously more than far to make a possible save. Lack of concentration maybe? I am not expecting lfc should pay well over the odds for a "world class" gk as we are not the United, we don't allow the opponent to have 10 on target shoot per match. We do need a steady player, who is good to catch from ball from side and make normal saves. If Butland is what JK believe in, count me in.

cheers.

{Ed001's Note - Can I agree, not sure it is self centred, more he thinks about attacking so is already off and running early, whereas defending he is reacting so off and running late, making him look slower. Cruyff used to say that he was not fast, it was just that he started running earlier than his opposition which made him look quicker. I think Can is the same, in that he looks faster because he has had time to get going. He certainly does work back, but he is not reading the play to be positioned to cut attacks out.

Karius I find impossible to judge as he just did not have enough work to do to judge him. He was spending most games in a deckchair with the cigars out.}

thanks for your quick comment ed001 and the quote from Cruyff really explained well.

have a good day!

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate, I thought it was a better way of saying the old 'first 5 yards is in the head' thing.}

Couldn’t agree more about Karius Ed001. I saw more of Karius taking Instagram photos then playing in goal (early) last season. I think it was a real step up for him playing at a huge club like Liverpool and I wonder if how he wanted to present himself caused him to lose sight on being a no1. Once he got the backing of the club and yes some vocal shout outs from VVD, he massively improved.
Like any fan I was appalled at the mistakes made in the final but I’m a big believer in learning from mistakes. Isn’t coaching about improving personal weaknesses and setting higher goals? So for me, and controversially, I hope he stays our no1 fighting for a point to prove next season. DeGea proved himself after a bad initial spell, why not Karius if he can move forwards and work even harder!

De Gea just got bounced around the box a bit In league matches, he did not make two errors of such embarrassing nature in the biggest game of both his and his team mates life. If karius ever had a chance to prove his worth, it was saturday, and he blew it big time.

I think the comment about not being able to see what he can do due to him having little to do is actually what is critical to his failure. Being a top goalkeeper for one of the big boys requires you to not have a lot to do for large swathes of a match at a time, but to be as sharp as a razor when called into action. I feel that is the litmus test for any keeper aspiring to play for a top team, that concentration and focus despite not having a lot to do, and karius has failed it in spades. It may cost a hell of a lot of money but I don’t think we can afford to let down such a hard working group of players with complacency in such a key area.

Good points AW. My point ultimately comes down to how a player can turn a performance like the CL into a winning mentality and DDG did just that. I believe Karius can go two ways and I hope the club and fans get behind him.

Spot on on the Karius tip, Ed and Uncle. First off, I have an issue with people saying his clean sheets were down to VVD and not to him. Frankly, that is nonsense. Why? When DDG got his award for the most clean sheets this season, I don't see the rest of his back 4 getting a mention. He got all the credit so if he's getting all the credit for the clean sheets in the PL, it's only fair that Karius gets all the credit for the most clean sheets in the CL cos well, that is only fair esp. cos DDG plays in a more defensive system.

Now, I will not be passing judgement on him on a personal note and no one should either esp. if you don't know the guy personally. What we do know about him is that he has a back bone, integrity and accountability after his admirable conduct after the game, taking resp. for his errors to the point of publicly taking the whole blame for the defeat. Now, it takes a lot of steel to say that in public after the most dreadful day of your life.

As a GK, Karius had done enough IMO, to earn the spot full time for next season and then well, Sat happened. I have a strong feeling he may come back from this esp. if Klopp decides to keep him as either no. 1 or 2 BUT only Klopp can make that decision. As for his errors, I'm over it.

BRover
You are over it?
Until the next time.
This is LFC not Karius finishing school
Other players are not going to stick around for years and years whilst we wait for Karius to mature.

langland, in what part of my post did I say that Karius should be kept? You prolly wanna read it again cos I said it is Klopp's decision on what becomes of him even tho I feel Klopp won't bin him based on how Klopp operates.

And YES, I am over his errors cos dwelling on the past does not, never has and will never interest me as there is nothing but misery and frustration therein. And if he plays for us again and makes a mistake, I'll still be over it after a while. You are free to dwell on the past as that is your choice.
