Have to say I have more of an issue with the soft penalty decision rather than the Holgate card or no card. I suspect that the embarrassment of his rather cowardly shove being seen by millions of people will be enough of a punishment for Holgate. Let's hope the earful he got from Bobby was no more than he deserved. Feeling far more confident about the City match with VVD in defence, that's for sure.

Why do you have a problem with the penalty, Red48? To me, it was not a pen BUT seeing the Hypocrite in Chief a. k. a Everton manager eat some serious crow is enough for me.

Nah I don't like it BRover I think the game encourages player to "earn" a penalty and it's grim. The penalty against us against the bitters was never a penalty and was "earned@ and I thought our was one exactly the same: minimal contact, a player going to ground easily and a referee happily obliging - I would have preferred, in both games, for the penalties not to be given because I simply think neither of them were justified. Players should not be rewarded for going down under the very faintest of touches, it is a big problem in the game. We personally benefited yesterday but can easily be on the receiving end in other fixtures and, at certain times, it will ruin the game. I hope they find a way of preventing it as the amount of soft decisions seems to be ever increasing.

Well, I'd rather win a match on merit or at least through a legitimate goal than a pen that never was, or worse, cheating as well. But you're right, BRover, Allardyce is a pompous idiot sometimes so it's good to see him stuffed occasionally.
