Morning all and merry Christmas to everyone.
Long time reader and first time poster, so go easy on me .
I'm having an argument at the moment with a mate, who thinks Rodgers was a brilliant boss and doesn't rate Klopp at all. Can someone help me out with an argument, so that I can please shut him up over the Christmas period? Lol
Also one question for ed 01 if I may?
Just wondering what your opinion was on John Toshack as a player and did he ever really have a chance of becoming Liverpool manager as he has said?

Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas to you all and thanks to the eds for all the hard work you put in.

{Ed001's Note - as a player he was before my time, sorry. Yes he had a chance to become Liverpool manager, he was in the running a couple of times in fact.}

Get a new friend I would say lol. It would be far easier than trying to make your current one learn.

Thanks for the quick reply ed, much appreciated.
Have a great Christmas.

{Ed001's Note - welcome mate, so I couldn't help on him as a player, I can only remember seeing him and Keegan winding up the telepathy testers on a TV show as I have seen it recently.}

Suarez carried the team and Rodgers. Klopp has a handful of players who can do the job. Apart from the defence and Migs, when we add Keita, we have a solid team, we didn't have that under Rodgers. We had Suarez who made Sturridge look incredible, who helped Sterling improve his game incredibly. Now we don't just have 1 player carrying the team, we have Firmino who is not only scoring goals but probably the most technically gifted in the team not to mention Mane and myself. Hendo, many don't rate him, I personally do, I rate him alot. Ox, has shown some impressive moments since he joined, maybe not at the beginning but certainly the past month or so. Moreno has just improved, he's impressed me, say what you want about the lad but he's really stepped it up under Klopp this season whether that's down to Klopp or not who knows I don;t know that much info but it would seem so.

Great post, Salah. You are just as brilliant on the pitch as you are as a poster. Bravo, sir.

Rodgers did a brilliant job with Sterling, Sturridge and Suarez to be fair, but he lost the plot badly when the money came in for Suarez and he failed to replace him. IMO in his arrogance he tried to change the entire setup of the team around a large CF, breaking away from the fluid attacking play of the 13/ 14 season.

When it didn’t work we ended up with a mishmash, with no clear style of play or identity, ending up with the 6-1 loss to stoke.

Klopp on the other hand has established a clear style of play and an ability to create significant number of chances against even the best sides, meaning we are almost never truly outplayed. It’s only our poor defensive and weak GK that have kept us from a much better set of results than we currently have. If we can figure out how not to panic when put under pressure we will be right up there with the best.

Klopp over Rodgers every time for me, I just hope he can fix the Defense before it’s too late.

I remember Toshack very well. I wouldn't put him in the class of legend, but he was a very good CF. Him and Keegan up front worked very well as a partnership, with both making goals for each other. When he became the manager of Swansea and took them from the 4th division to the first, and finished 6th in that first season, there was a lot of speculation that he would indeed become the manager of Liverpool one day.

Tell him to look what happened when Suarez left, he was sacked. Ask him who signed Allen Balotelli mignolet lovren Clyne lambert sahin bogdan etc. The only two signings he made that were any good were couthiho and sturridge who after a sportsman's dinner that Jamie carragher spoke at that I attended I found out he was advised to sign them but didn't want them but was talked into both signings.

Look at who he replaced Suarez with (see above) look at the embarrassing champions league performances from him (playing a weakened team away at Real Madrid, ) the man was an embarrassment a schyster a fraud and was eventually found out. Hope that helps you mate, personally I think you should cut him straight off when he brings it up because he clearly knows zero about managers and football.

To me, is this even a debate btw Klopp and BR? Klopp got to two finals with BRs team that BR himself trashed in the media on his way out. Debate over!
