I'm pleased for Danny Sturridge, I've always been a fan of his. I was calling for us to sign him at least twelve months before he joined.

That said, we looked really flat today in the first half. I think our worst performance of the season was at Newcastle when Danny also started. I don't think it's a coincidence, we just don't look great with him spreading our attack.

I think he needs more game time, who knows it may work out, it may not. Starting him today was one of them for me, Solanke would be before him for me BUT Sturridge I was chuft for, he could've got a couple of goals, I'm hoping it can be a turn around for him and he can start smashing them in, he's certainly far from top notch at the moment but with more minutes maybe he can pull it together again? one can only hope.

His post match interview sums him up as a professional for me. He is great with the youngsters and wanted/ wants to be here and fight for his place. Great for him to reach 100 and i hope he can find his best form again. Regardless of injuries he has been fantastic for us and let's not forget it!

I still have a lot of faith in Sturrige. It seems to me that he had few years where his injuries were never sorted and he got rushed back. Now it feels like they have sorted them and it might take this year to actually build him back up physically. Ed 001 has talked about the time it takes to recover from long term injuries. As an example, look at Falcao. It took him a few years once he recovered to get back. I've watched him a few times this year and it looks like he is back physically. He seems to have close to the same pace as he did. I hope the same for Danny.

{Ed001's Note - Falcao is really looking good this season. That is a very good point.}

You also had a lad who tried again at the top teams in a fast league and failed. Moved to a slower league and returned to his old self.

Sturr8dge can still have a pr9ductive career but not in England or at least at the top of the game here.

{Ed001's Note - he failed at Man Utd and Chelsea because he was still recuperating while playing for them. That is the time he needed support from the managers and backing, but he was just discarded instead. Nothing to do with a slower league, it was having a manager who believed in him and allowed him to play his way back to his best.}

I’d love to see Sturridge back to his best, I personally feel we need a proper striker to put our chances away and be in those positions in order to do so. That’s exactly where Sturridge was and so he capitalised on Huddersfield mistake and scored. I was delighted he scored.

Most of the top sides have a striker.

City - Aguero
Spurs - Kane
United - lukaku
Chelsea - Morata.
