People saying AOC not worth it. Years ago everyone was raving about him but he like many have stagnated under Wenger. What I can't understand is people's eagerness to pay over double for Lemar who is untested on the PL. I have a friend in France who is a Monaco fan who said that Lemar is good but nothing more than that and he wouldn't pay more than 35M for him (they bought him for 4M 2 years ago) . He said it's the same with Mendy who apparently a few years ago was the worst LB in the league. I can't help feeling English clubs are being mugged off with this obsession in buying players with a big price tag. Meanwhile clubs are laughing all the way to the bank.

{Ed001's Note - I think your friend needs to understand that Jardim's skill is in improving players. That is why he can take the 'worst LB in the league' and turn him into a quality LB. That's what he does. It is irrelevant what they were like when they arrived or how much they were worth or cost. The only thing that is relevant is how good they are right now.}

Lamar is a better player than AOX. Plain and simple. AOX won't come cheap anyways. £40 mill for someone who doesn't even know what his true position is? Lemar is extreamly skillful while AOX is all about pace and power ( We have Emre Can and Henderson already )
What's the difference between AOX and Cleverly?

Yes Ed I see what you mean but my point is don't you think Klopp could do a similar job with AOC?

{Ed001's Note - could, yes. However I would rather we just bought the better player and then he improved them, than buy the worse one and hope he can be improved to the level of the better one.}

So Ed what is your assessment of Lemar v Ox and which would be a better fit.

{Ed001's Note - I trust the scouts I have spoken to in their assessment of the two, as I have not seen a lot of Lemar. They all say Lemar is a much better player technically and is much more intelligent. Ox has terrible decision making. Lemar also can cover on the wings if needed like Ox. I would go with Lemar, though, if I was actually in charge I would have sat down and watched a lot more footage of him to be sure.}

Thanks I haven seen Lemar much either; that makes sense. I feel reassured. I guess there's a good reason why Klopp is going after him and wiling to spend so much. Not sure why the scouts haven't done as good a job on CB or goalie though😏.

Lemar by a country mile. Oxlade is a very very limited footballer and £40m? No thanks at all.

Lemar seems very "one-footed" to me. That could be an issue. However, he seems very good with that one foot 😁.

Mr. Dennis,
Do you use the search function for all Ox posts, then copy and paste in your reply?

Auto text just puts it together now Tristan. The words Oxlade Chamberlain bring up the word mediocre, ordinary and average.

Dribbles like a speedy ozil in how one footed he is.
Side note wrong page I know mate thinks Monaco manager would be first choice if/ when wenger goes and wenger will personally recommend him. plausible?

{Ed001's Note - Allegri was the chosen option if he left last summer.}

Eds, jardim must be some coach as u said because look at the so called unheard of players who are coming into Monaco, then within a couple of years look at the so called superstars coming out. they have sold bakayoko, Mendy and mbappe so far for about 250 mill combined plus have interest in Lemar (80 mill approx) and Fabinho.

{Ed001's Note - none of those players were unheard of. Mbappe, for instance, is a player PSG have been trying to sign since he was 7. He went to Clairefontaine (similar to what the FA used to have in Lilleshall before they stupidly scrapped it) because he was the best in his age group. He has been tipped for greatness since he was 7 and it was no shock he did so well.
The others were all seen as talented but extremely raw and in need of polishing into gems. That is what Jardim does so well. He doesn't take coal and make it into a diamond, he takes an unpolished diamond and polishes it.}

On the money side, it was always going to happen. Clubs in other countries will raise prices to take advantage, exactly the same as was done to Italy in the 90's, Chelsea in the 00's, Barcelona and Real always, and City more recently. Only difference is now every BPL team has money to burn.

AOC is poor andthat is that. Spot on, Ed. Mbappe was already scheduled for greatness very early. In fact, City placed a bid of 40m euros for him when when he was 15/ 16 yrs old that was rejected. If you don't know Mbappe, simply ask about him and stop thinking that cos you haven't heard of a player, no one else has.

Nice analogies ed, you been on the cod liver oil again, boosting that aging brain of yours lol.

{Ed001's Note - I need more than cod liver oil at this point in a transfer window mate!}

Sorry ed001,my apologies, unheard of was a bad choice of words.
But I think you get my meaning, basically he is a wizard at nurturing young talent and making them realise their full potential.

{Ed001's Note - he is excellent at that I agree.}
