Just for opinions sake, say we got VVD, who would be your ideal centre back partnership? In my opinion, I would go Lovren and VVD. I think with the support of VVD and the opportunity to build a relationship, Lovren could be very useful.

Matip and VVD. No question about that. Lovren's too rash and his passes tend to be rash and erratic.

I would love to see VVV and Gomez think he looks a better defender than Matip and Lovren and a long side VVD would grow into a top centre half. both players very strong in the air and can both play and both have a good. And I would rather a young player make mistakes then the other 2 witch they seem to do a lot and hope he learns from them.

How do people not like matip? He is by far our best defender he is composed on the ball and barely has to lunge for a challenge. Him and vvd would be great so long as they don't both surge forward at the same time.

OK- does anyone think that Klopp intends to play VVD in a back three? Otherwise- why give Lovren a new contract, why scout wingbacks, and moreover, why meet with VVD in Blackpool to show him videos of how he'd like to use him? What else is he going to do, show him a clip of a flat back four and 'explain' to him, "see where Lovren's playing? Well that's what I want you to do. " ;D.
