Hello fellow Reds. Quick question.

I'm going down to the match with my friend who is a Burnley supporter (sitting separately in the stadium) . What's the best place to grab a couple pints close to the stadium before the match? He won't be wearing Burnley colors or anything. I normally just go straight into the stadium when I go. Alternatively, what are the rules about open containers around the stadium? I've previously bought beers at the gas station close to the Main Stand and drank around that parking lot, but can you buy/ bring and walk around outside the stadium drinking? A pub or the sort obviously better if it's raining. Hoping to make a big day out of it. Thanks for any and all advice.

And oh yeah, let's freakin smash Burnley. Top 4 is right there. We just got to reach out and grab it.

YNWA.

Definitely the Sandon. 1 minute from the stadium, very big pub, some eye candy behind the bar. Every time I go to a game I have a few drinks in their conservatory area before hand.

Cannot recommend it highly enough. Great atmosphere in there.

The Arkles on Anfield Road is also good and your friend can wear his colours with no problem.

I also recommend the Arkles for mixed company.

Thanks for the feedback! Is the arkles an away supporters' pub, or just relaxed towards away supporters? For a Liverpool experience though, Sandon is better?

If you want to get in with a bit of singing, go to the Albert. Personally, I meet with a load of guys outside of 'The Twelfth Man' (or, the Salisbury for the older generation) . Depends what you want really. All of the pubs will be very busy.
The Albert is pretty much next door to the Twelfth Man.
If you like it a bit rough, 'The Park'.
Hope you have a great time. If you see Kate Bush there, it's me!
Up The Reds. 😎.
