I am not trying to be mean of nothing, but watching Depay come in the 88th minute for ManU the other day brought to mind fan favorite transfer targets of a few years ago - Depay, Shaqiri and even Gotze.
The grass is certainly not greener on the other side.

its a bit silly your statement, depay is still trying to adapt, gotze is a fantastic player, also with shaqiri.

{Ed001's Note - is Shaqiri fantastic? I have never understood the hysteria that surrounds him. I am glad we have never signed him.}

Edd001 shaqiris fantastic every 1 in 10 games.

{Ed001's Note - I must have missed that, I have seen him play well once in the 50 or so games I have seen him play. Mostly he flatters to deceive and offers little.}

Eds, shaqiri scored hat trick in world cup. How many players have done that? He is maradona of alps and have shown a lot of promise coming in mid season.

{Ed001's Note - so what? He has been utter dross consistently in club football, international football is irrelevant.}

Rovercocastic, not sure why its a silly statement. We bought firmino at the same time as depay and he seems to have adapted just fine.

Fact is we dodged a bullet there and can't really see him getting the consistency at a high enough level to be a top class player. Agree with ed on shaquiri, flatters to decieve most of the time, slightly above average at best.

Cant comment on gotze, not seen enough of him.

Shaquiri is the Maradonna of the alps? What?! He is not even the best player at Stoke City, let alone comparable to the best player in history!

Firminho could be special if he's more composed and finishes more.
Speaking of composure. If henderson was more composed in front of goal he'd be on another level. Frustrating.

I'm just off to get some "Maradonna of the Alps" t-shirts printed, and booking a train to Stoke. 🤑.

Shaquiri is at Stoke for a reason. He couldn`t hack it at Bayern and Inter, both big clubs with enormous pressure to succeed and prove yourself. Scoring a hatrick at the WC means nothing except of course, you wanna tell us that Shaquiri is a very good player because he has a great game every 4 years.

I'd work on your spelling before you get those t-shirts printed Kate 😉.

"Maradona of the Alps"? Maybe only in his own mind! He's not the best player at Stoke (a perennial mid table team) and he's certainly not the best player for the Swiss team (another perennial mid level team) . Where and how do people come up with this stuff?

Looks like there is a shaquiri fan furiously clicking disagree lol. He is an average of average! Work that one out. 😀.

He flatters to deceive. Pulls his finger out every now and then and makes the highlights reel. So youtube makes him look like Ronaldo material.
I wonder if he is one of those players who has to get riled up to produce the goods?
