I hate judging preseason but I have a couple of concerns. Why is Migs still here? Those attempting to justify him just yesterday saying he's still good enough, still think that? Another mistake. Mane showing why he took nearly half a season to score for Saints, lots of running and pace but largely ineffective for me. I wouldn't usually judge so early but a £35m price tag allows that in my opinion, especially when it was spent attempting to add a goal threat from wide. I was one questioning this buy and I've seen nothing that makes me think I was wrong. In fact he's been competely out shone by one of our own youngsters. One thing I don't get from last night is why Wijnaldum was played deep? Why buy an attacking mid then shoehorn him in by playing him completely out of position. Injuries still happening are a worry too!

Wijnaldum was never bought to replace Coutinho, Firmino and Mane. He played the deeper role at PSV and I believe that is the reason he is at the club.
I hope I am wrong on this one.

Natural, migs- fair enough he isn't good enough but judging mane without him having played a competitive game for us is bloody ludicrous no matter how much we paid .

Mane the player we need . He what's to be his man instead of passing it sideways or backwards . 1st half last night we can 2 or 3 so could they . 2rd half nobody was good.

the point about mane, coutinho, firmino and even guys like milner and hendo etc is that we shouldn't be relying on them to provide the bulk of goals. Milner had a great season. had we had a fit a firing striker banging in 20+ goals a season then milner's contribution becomes gold. I agree we want to see more output from Mane and others, but it'll be a team contribution in the end.

Mane will be a good player and provide a threat like what we had with sterling on the wing but more likely with a better end ball and some more goals and IMO will be our best player this season. Friendlys are pointless to judge people off. Players are still getting fitness and The level of competition isn't what it would be in the prem because players want to avoid injury.

Sorry but Mane has looked reluctant to shoot and for someone brought in to add a goal threat from wide it's not good enough. I will await proper judgement until the end of the season, as I said I don't like judging in preseason and only his price tag makes me do it. If Wijnaldum was brought in to play from deep then heaven help us. Grujic was a lot cheaper and far better in that role. Wijnaldum is far better further forward where his strengths can be utilised. Again proper judgement will wait, this is simply what I've noticed.

Poolie, stop freaking out over a worthless friendly that means nothing and yes, you are judging them too early. Would you rather Mane turn it on in preseason or at Arsenal. He is the exact player we need as we had no other players who could do the things he can. I was skeptical at his arrival based on his price and his attitude, not on his natural talent as he is talented and then some. As for Mingo, you do know Karius will be out injured for two months with a broken hand and Mingo has to take his place or would you rather Manninger step in for him? Slating players over a preseason loss is ridiculous and you are not helping the cause with baseless criticisms. Chill out and wait for the season to be in full flight and then make your judgement then.

Cindy are - 1. If you actually read my posts you would see I wasnt "freaking out" and actually said that I would reserve my proper judgement for the end of the season. 2. Whether Migs is going to be our keeper at the start of the season or not, whether it's preseason or not I think Migs has made and continues to make enough mistakes to justify any criticism. Did Manninger make a mistake in his half?

Playing Wijnaldum as a centre midfielder is committing football suicide. He isn't a centre midfielder and if we attempt that against any half decent team we will get battered. Reference the defeats to Watford, West Ham, Man United, Sevilla, Swansea, Palace etc last season.
