I repeat. Forget about Goetze and all the others. Dimitri Payet is the man LFC needs. Absolutely masterful display tonight for France. Right foot, left foot, free kicks, excellent corners, tricky dribbling, insightful throughballs, Coutinho-esque goal in the top corner. Overshadowed Pogba and Griezmann, and clearly MOTM.

Why would they sell to us?
Why would he come to us?

West Ham have money. West Ham will be in the best stadium in England. West Ham are in Europe next season.

If he leaves it will be for a champions league team not in the premier league.

A bit of euro fever there mate, seen it all before in big tournaments, don't get me wrong great player but his value must be astronomical now after that goal.

game 1 and already we have our first " we must sign this player" shout. Plenty more of this to look forward to no doubt, whilst abusing the players we have a genuine interest in, personally I thought france were poor, and only awful finishing prevented Romania from winning the game, I will have to watch future itv games with the sound of from now on as I don't think I can stomach a whole month of hoddle and tylsdley in the commentary box, what a gem from glenn " if the goalie had dived the right way he would have saved the penalty! " trouble is he didn't, to think this man once managed England.

If coutinho would leave we should go all out but I don't see West Ham selling him.

We were not in Payet's league transfer wise, even before his goal tonight. After his goal and probably a very good tournament I am not sure there is any PL club who could put their hands on him, even the likes of City and Arsenal. He will go straight to either the two Spanish Giants or PSG or Munich.

Payet had been outstanding all season and just keeps getting better. He was complete boss tonight.

I seem to remember us being linked to him when he was at St Et. I think during the Comolli years.

It never happened and i doubt highly it will now (most prob not interested) but we need a dead ball specialist who can put the ball into the box from corners, we were quite poor with distribution last season.

Although Milner had a fair few assists, i'm not sure how many came from set pieces.

Payet is a wonderful player but would be mad to leave West Ham, next summer maybe, but hammers are in such a good place that they could very much become the next huge team in England alongside city in my opinion anyway.

KingKenny7 - turn on the cognitive functions and neural connections between eyes and brain. I started the post with "I repeat". It means I have said this before (3 times to be exact) . This also means it is not just about this first game. And where have I slated players from our team in the post or anywhere else?

Ron - Wow. I'm taken aback. The eternal optimism and positivism has a dark side!

My positivity and optimism only really extends to matches. Transfers and finances are a stretch too far 😄.

ra1969 I didn't say you personally have slagged off our targets, I meant posters in general, the pattern is as follows we lust after a player we have no chance of getting, and let's face it west ham did not have to beat of much competiton to sign payet, whilst bemoaning the fact our true targets are not good enough or they don't have a sexy enough sounding surname, if payet carries on in this manner it will be west ham who will have to do all they can to keep him, especially if say psg came calling.

Okay Kingkenny7, your point is well taken. But I must admit now that my enthusiasm has gotten tempered a bit when i realized that Payet is already 29 years old. Wouldn't fit into the setup Klopp is building it seems. Phenomenal player nevertheless.

I agree with you there, also it will be interesting to see how his 2nd season with west ham plays out, as he will be a marked man.
