Seeing the performance of Coates at Sunderland the last two games, I'm seeing why we got rid and he had few chances.

He is under a manager with ten times the experiance Rodgers has, he has won many things too. You'd think a coach of this level would both be able to spot a player and get them playing well. The cv we say we'd want over Brendens.

Ok posting in hindsight is easy, but the reason I am is because I was well on top of Rodgers for not giving him and others chances, being an armchair expert over someone who sees these guys every day in training.

Coates doesn't look good enough and possibly looked like this in training. Rodgers was correct. Not saying everyone is like this, Borini, Ilori, Wisdom etc but Coates is a reason to mention another side to the ongoing argument with, so far, some back up. Imo it's only fair to point towards this as it's normally only Rodgers is wrong, Dosent know what he's doing etc etc.

Fair point on Coates as Rodgers didn't buy him either. Borini and ilori were both bought by him for decent money. Borini actually played for him prior and when he has looked good he's dropped immediately afterwards. Ilori has barely been given a look in- it's not like we've had an amazing defence that were un-droppable and couldn't risk him in a few cup games. Sometimes you never know players potential until they get played regularly. Wisdom was a bizarre decision. He should have had some chances last season instead of sending him on loan. Instead we loaned a player in, in manquilllo and he's no better. Again that's all down to Rodgers.

Max that is nonsence most people could tell he was not good enough long before brendan turned up and is completely different to not playing ilori who is clearly good enough or rossiter etc. As ed01 said without odriscoll championing gomez he probably wouldn't get a look in either.

i don't actually think Ilori is good enough yet. He wasn't even a guaranteed starter at bordeaux, and i'd like to think that we are a much better team. He should geet a look in in the cups though hopefully.

Barnez you talk some rubbish!!
Are ilori and rossitier currently good enough to start in the team and if so replace who? I think if they were then BR would be playing them because in my eyes BR is good at giving the young lads a chance, wisdom, Flanagan, sterling and Ibe have all played games to prove themselves and now Gomez is getting game time and keeping a £20m left back on the bench.
Name me another top club who give so many youngsters a chance in recent years???

Max, your post is pointless and if it was a way of giving BR some kind credit for ditching Coates who every man and his dog new was not good enuff and who BR didn't sign, it failed miserably. Funny you did not mention the poor players he DID sign who have been aweful for us that are still here, some of which he is still forcing down our throats like Allen. BR is still incompetent at spotting players as we have seen with the Gomez situation fro barnez. All he does is spotting players by trial and error as in, buy a shed load of players and then seeing what sticks. He'll prolly be taking credit for Gomez's development whereas if he had his way, he'll prolly be on loan at Blackpool.

em Real Madrid would be one as players like Jese, Nacho, Morata have had their chances under Ancelotti. BTM, your post is pointless. You slate barnez for his post but forgetting to mention how will we know if the youth are good enuff if you don't play them? Our youth ARE good enuff because those that have played have proven that. If they don't play and keep getting loaned out, it's because BR doesn't trust them and not due to their ability. Wisdom has been on loan for three years straight while Ilori for two. At what point will we know if they are good enuff if we keep loaning them out pointlessly? Care to answer that.
