All this talk about Rodgers messing players about has got me thinking. Steven Gerard, a lad that brought me so much pride and enjoyment as a Liverpool fan over the years. I was at Anfield the night he scored that goal against Olympiacos. Not to mention the countless other joyful moments of sheer brilliance he conjured-up over the years. For me, he should never, ever have been allowed to leave. He should've been groomed for manager. Compared to a Sterling, for example, he is an icon, a giant among men. And this is a fella that has Liverpool football club in his heart. He was with us since he was 8 years old! 8 years old!!!
This question then is to any of you eds. Did Rodgers have a hand in his leaving? I'm not bothered too much about Rodgers and his shortcomings. I've seen worse to be honest. But if he had a hand in my club disrespecting Steven Gerard - our leader, our saviour on so many occasions. Then for me that would be unforgivable. Did Steven Gerard leave because of Brendan Rodgers? Did Rodgers force him out? Or did our captain just fancy a change of scenery at the tail end if his career??? Please tell me it was the latter .

{Ed002's Note - Gerrard has said that the decision to leave was made when he was dropped against Real MAdrid.}

I love Stevie and I don't begrudge him his time in LA. He has earned it. He had an awful season last year and maybe his time had come. Enjoy the sunshine fella you will always be a legend.

As much as I disagree with rodgers decision, the whole 11 was basically dropped. Good job they all didn't decide to leave

Bad decision to drop him but didn't Rodgers say he dropped a lot of them because they weren't putting effort in, like in the Newcastle game before it? Also our first 11 didn't exactly play well against Madrid in the first leg, so I don't completely disagree with what Rodgers did on that occasion.

how may seasons did Stevie give good dervice to Liverpool they could have afforded him 1 bad one he is only human even though as fans we see him as so much more. I would have like to se him end up like Ryan Giggs did at man u where he finished his career at Liverpool and then went straight into management.Remember what he did in Istanbul.There were other clubs with world class players and everyone rated our players and mediocre but at the time Milan were very strong and not the manager but the captain rallied the troops to victory so i think him having great leadership skills wold be great if he was to be come Liverpool manager as Liverpool is always in his heart and blood just as mine even though i live in SA
