Eds can i ask you opinion on the stories that have been appearing for about as long as i can remember constantly linking clubs(usually man city and madrid) to our best or most promising players.There's never any sanchez to city or courtois to united stories, really the only time there are stories between 2 big english clubs are our best players to someone else.Would you say these appear due to other teams being interested and making it known or is it just journo's that a) have the wrong end of the stick or b)making it up as they go along.I hope its the latter but if not and it is teams making interest known we have to fight these stories becasue they seem to have a detrimental effect to us fans and the team, if it persists and it was upto me i would play them at their own game, let stories of us being interested in their best/promising players find their way to the journo's.Maybe childish but teams are trying to turn our players heads all the time with these stories, real madrid are the worst for it teams are using dirty tactics towards us so let's throw a few punches back next time.

apologies for the long read and thanks for any replies.

{Ed002's Note - Clubs are interested in each others players all of the time - Liverpool are not special in any way.}

I think it's probably to do with the fact that Chelsea , City and even United are more attractive clubs than Liverpool. Players can earn more, these clubs spend more on the better players and crucially have a habit of winning medals. Liverpool have slipped of the scale this last decade. I think it would be harder for Liverpool to bring say a "Chelsea star player" to Anfield than it would for Chelsea to bring a "star Liverpool player" to Stamford bridge

Hate to agree with a United fan, but I can't argue with the logic.

We are missing a certain sparkle at the moment, which can come from a special group of players (think Gerrard, Alonso, Mascherano, Torres, Suarez), the coach (Benitez given his record in Europe and also Houllier imho) or repeated success (CL/CL finals/FA Cup/Cup Treble etc).

Something needs to change or we just keep fingers and toes crossed that the £5-£10m 'gambles' pay off more than they miss. Still shock me that £10m can be seen as a gamble, but I guess that the state of the EPL at the mo.

Yeh isn't meant as a dig at Liverpool mate, just how I see it myself. We both know that United abd Liverpool are the clubs with big history in the epl, but these days players number one priority is the cash.

That`s the market these days, Zedd. Not too worried about Ibe tho because i think he`ll sign but it must be concerning because as the ed said, these players may wanna see who the manager will be and get som guarantees on money, playing time and the lot.

Stand-United i agree with you 100% mate its there for everyone to see those clubs are more attractive than us i can accept that.
My point was that in papers/websites the number of stories regarding liverpool players moving away compared to other clubs is crazy.Eveyday they are linking someone else to our best players yet any other teams players youd maybe see a rumour every week or two,just curious as to why its constant liverpool players all the time for every rumour about one team there's ten about liverpool.It seems like teams are trying to turn our players heads.

Cos LFC sells and like it or not, many fans from other clubs wanna see us fail. Sad but true, IMO.
