We are now 3 consecutive clean sheets in the PL and (if ignoring Extra time goals) conceded one goal in the last six games in all competitions. For me a lot of it is Sakho. Of all the guys we signed in the last two years he is my favourite. The guy hardly ever lose the ball, he is calm, always great passing forward, great decision making, very good in 50/50. A very clean game. He will make mistakes, all defenders do, but for me, as important to our recent defensive improvment as Lucas.

The question is if we will now play Skertl, Sako and Can every game twice a week because if one of them is not playing our defensive abilities go down big time.

Going forward we still need, even after today, to be less wasteful, Against the big teams we will not have that many chances. Hopefully with Sturridge we can be more clinical.

And yes it was because of losing Sakho against Chelsea, that we lost that game.
When he got out our defense was shaky, Johnson is nowhere good at defense.

I am going out an a limb and will say replace Can with Lovren, or have some rotation in the back line. Skrtel and Sakho should play all the time, but we should be prepared for injury. I for one do not want Johnson playing as a CB. Lovren may benefit from a confident team with Lucas in it to help.

I think we have a genuine gap at RCB if Can were to get injured or moved into midfield. Sure you might get away with Lovren or Skrtel there, but not a natural choice. Hopefully this gets addressed when Flanno comes back from injury and/or Wisdom/Illori return in the summer, but for now, don't trust either GJ or Manquillo as backup options.

I still do not know why Johnson was chosen over Lovren to come off the bench at Chelsea.

Just reading the comments re defence and just thought I would add my two cents ha.
For next season I would keep sakho at lcb and have ilori at rcb and then have emre as the cb like a Baresi type sweeper/distributer.
His potential in that position is massive. Then have the team near to what is is now apart from a new dcm eg wanyama.
