Good evening eds and fellow Reds I hope I find you all well.

Just a quick question if anyone actually knows, what is the situation with Thiago its a mystery to me, I did try the search engine but nothing concrete or conclusive that I could find. Great player but always injured and on extremely high wages, is there a possibility that he might go in January if he finally gets fit and then we can look to get a decent No 6 in.

Cheers in advance.

{Ed002's Note - Thiago Alcantara (CM) His representatives have spoken to Barcelona about the player finishing his career back at the club but he would need to be very cheap and to have reduced wages. Seems unlikely.}

Great player at the right club but has never been a great fit for this club and how we play IMO. His injury record didn't seem overly troublesome when we bought him but it's gotten massively worse since. I don't see how he gets back into the team even when fully fit - time for him to go TBH.

I have to put my hands up and admit, the fans were right. Thiago is a much better influence behind the scenes than on the pitch, and his 200k a week, is in service to that. The fact he was injured in April, and is still missing, has allowed him to hone his craft as the mentor he was always supposed to be.

You can just see the influence he has had on Stefan Bajcetic. The youngster has learned the ways of the injury prone. Always good to seasoned veterans passing on what they have learned :P.

How is Bajetic injury prone?

I don’t like criticising players for being injured as I’m sure they’d rather play than be in the treatment room.

The one thing I’d say about Thiago though is as good a player as he is he makes us a worse team when he plays. People try to tell me he’s our best midfielder and on talent alone he may well be. The problem is he’s too slow and wants too much time on the ball so he puts us under pressure.

He’s an experiment that just hasn’t worked.

And yet we play MacAllister who may well be even slower, can’t tackle as well, certainly not as technically good and loses possession more often than not.

Thiago was part of the team that nearly took us to the quadruple. I wouldn't be so quick to criticise his overall tenure, but it is fair to say that there are others who will start before him now.

Pearl jam, you may want to check how many of the games he played in that season. He missed 24 of the 63 we played.
