Chelsea in talks with Benfica regarding Enzo, as much as he would be a great addition to our Squad, I think the release clause is out of budget and would be a huge amount to spend on a player in Jan.
Hopefully we are able to bring in a midfielder in Jan but it looks like we will have to wait until the summer.

{Ed002's Note - What happened to the pre-contract that Liverpool had with him?}

Ed we all know that was just rumours and people believing them, realistically we were never in with a chance at the price quoted.

I think the pre- agreement was just click bait Ed like all the top 10 richest men in the world fighting each other to buy the club.

Would you prefer to sign just Enzo or Moises and Cody this window? who has the higher ceiling?

Everything said about Enzo was previously said about Jorginho and Kovacic and Saul, and in fairness anyone watching Saul say 2016-2018 wouldve wanted him in the team. Point is try not to overreact one way or another you never know how these things are going to go.

Shame bout Enzo but let Chelsea have him. Wrong move for the lad I reckon. Chelsea don't seem to have any plan to who they sign. bought a lot of players and paid well over the odds for most. Great business for Benfica though.

Caceido all day long for me spaceman.

I think we probably signed him on a pre contract for 120 mill and then decided to release him back to Benfica on a free so they could sell him again to Chelsea.

Bloody FSG are throwing money around like it’s going out of fashion.

Caicedo all day long. Fits the type of midfielder we’re short of.

As for Enzo, he is flavour of the month and Todd B is probably so ripped off his tits on Colombian marching power he’s decided that’s who he’s getting coke hell, high water or FFP.

Must admit, I'm not sure what all the hype around Enzo Fernandez is. He's young, but very expensive and although I've only seen him in the world cup, there was nothing to get particularly excited about. Much rather Mac Allister from Argentina. Caicedo was also much more appealing, especially at half the price.

Is it just me that doesn’t really understand why everyone thinks Moises Caicedo is so good? Don’t get me wrong he looks like a grafter and competent midfielder but £60-£70 mil? I think I would expect a much more rounded midfielder who is great at the defensive and offensive side of the game for that amount of money as opposed to just the former I. e Rodri. Oh well, if it turns out to be true I’ll support him and I trust Klopp.

Rodri wasn’t the finished article when he joined City. He learnt his trade off of Fernandinho and Pep. He also cost a lot of money.

Not sure what Rodri’s got to do with anything. Never been impressed by him. A thug. Cost 50 ish mil. Not 100.

Subjective opinions on Rodri and mathematical awareness aside, I am still completely unaware as to why we would want caicedo….
Rather give the young Bajcetic (spelling) lad a chance.

{Ed001's Note - how is it related? Bajcetic is a centre-back who has been playing a defensive midfield role. Caicedo is a central midfielder, he doesn't play the same role in the team at all. Utterly unrelated they can both fit perfectly well in the same team.}

Hi Ed001. I’m just asking about the sort of player Caicedo is because I haven't seen him play all that much nor even heard much about him other than we apparently want to buy him for a rumoured plus £60m? Whilst I know stats aren’t everything the only one he rates highly on this season is tackles made. Didn’t say he and Bajcetic couldn’t play together either and I’m aware of the young lads natural previous position, which by your own previous points isn’t the be all and end all I. e Trent being a midfielder than found himself at fullback due to the teams needs at the time he was breaking through - Bajcetic seems more than capable of playing at CM and CDM as TAA has been effective at RB. I’m just saying that I’m just asking about Caicedo’s merits and all anyone on here seems to want to do is disagree with any other subjective point made which kind of suggests to me that no-one really knows what’s so great about him, so I guess I’ll stop asking. Cheers anyway. Have a great new year.

{Ed001's Note - you never asked me that. He is very similar to Kante in his Leicester days, running round breaking up play and then giving it simply. Like Kante, he looks to be able to step up a level and clearly has the ability to do more on the ball. He is exactly what we need to replace Henderson in the long term imo.}

Excellent thankyou. Well if that’s true let’s hope there’s some merit in the rumours then and he’s more like Kante then the last player we bought that was supposedly a Kante clone ?.

{Ed001's Note - I just hope he hasn't got any baggage either, like Bissouma and Keita both have. I would love a Kante clone.}

Unfortunately Caicedo isn’t likely to happen as the purse has been closed. If that’s true we’re in for a very long and painful second half of the season. We’d better find our scoring boots as we’ll need to be scoring 3 or 4 every game to make up for our shortcomings in midfield and consequently, defence.

Ed001 do you think we are still looking to bring a midfielder in mate despite what Klopp said yesterday about having to bring money in rather then spend?

{Ed001's Note - yes.}
