Was/is Gomez injured?
Haven’t caught up with any news but wondered about his short cameo last night.
16 Apr 2026 00:28:16
Slot said he wasn't taken off due to injury, but Gomez told him he probably shouldn't sprint anymore because he "felt something". I swear that chap is made of Kleenex.
16 Apr 2026 00:33:16
Look, he must know that body of his now, poor guy. Glad he caught it. Could do with his aerial presence on Sunday.
16 Apr 2026 10:15:54
Was Frimpong injured against PSG? Or just taking off cause poor?
16 Apr 2026 10:27:08
I'd imagine cos poor. Had an absolute mare.
15 Apr 2026 21:47:22
Marcos Senesi on a free being rumoured on various sites this evening. Maybe Konate is going, replacing one free with another.
15 Apr 2026 22:27:19
That's a downgrade. Slow, not exactly mobile, and poor in the air. As bad as Konate has been this season, Konate is better.
15 Apr 2026 22:50:31
If Ibou goes, I could see us getting that Ordonez guy. Just a feeling. But, I'd like Ibou to just sign. Losing him, Mo and Trent, on frees would be a disaster for what is largely a sell to buy model.
15 Apr 2026 23:35:29
Not good enough for us, not starting 11, he'd do for replacing Joe Gomez, maybe, but not Konate. Apparently Konate has essentially agreed terms and they only have to iron out a few of the finer details.
16 Apr 2026 00:57:30
Vuskovic, if Spurs go down, is who we need. Senesi is also a lcb, so backup for Virg.
16 Apr 2026 02:42:18
@Chewy, like teaching him positional sense, distribution of passing, and awareness of opposition players' intentions - them sort of finer details?
16 Apr 2026 04:16:50
I don't know who, but if Konate goes, then it has to be an experienced player coming in. It surely can't be another early 20s lad unless it's someone like Huijsen, who'd be Prem ready for a club looking to compete for top4.
16 Apr 2026 07:01:59
We just paid 60m or 70m for a young CB...
Isn't he going to replace Konate?
16 Apr 2026 08:39:49
Jacquet, I think, would be the eventual Konate replacement and Leoni the eventual Van Dijk replacement. I hope Konate stays another year or two while Jacquet is bedding in, though.
16 Apr 2026 09:14:09
I hope Konate doesn't stay another day let alone another season.
16 Apr 2026 09:44:17
Are we sure the team isn't switching to a 3 at the back formation next season?
16 Apr 2026 10:29:38
I'd want an experienced 25-28 years old CB if Konate goes.
16 Apr 2026 11:06:31
Yes, I'm pretty sure we're not switching to a back 3 next season.
With Jacques, I think the fee is really irrelevant. I just don't think it makes sense having VVD plus 3 CBs aged 19-21.
15 Apr 2026 21:43:37
'ITK' people keep on saying Slot is going, and yet Minteh and Senesi (two of his former players) are being more heavily linked than most. Ornstein has doubled down on his opinion than Slot will stay.
15 Apr 2026 22:17:51
Is Senesi good enough? Seen him a few times for Bournemouth. Comfortable on the ball and good passing range, but anyone watch them a bit more extensively? Is he good enough defensively?
15 Apr 2026 22:26:41
He's more reliable than Joe crock Gomez so
Instant upgrade.
15 Apr 2026 22:44:58
Wouldn't be hard, Jay.
15 Apr 2026 23:48:44
Mk, Slot is definitely out the door. You don't need ITK or paid journalists to tell you he's going or staying. Just look at us fighting for 5th, playing terrible football, more defeats this year than any other year this century. Everyone can't wait for the season to be over n that includes Slot.
16 Apr 2026 00:29:22
Season's not over, Slot's still in charge, obviously his former players will be linked. Means absolutely nothing in regards to who the manager will be in the summer.
We need wingers, Minteh is young, he's cheap and has Prem experience.
We need a CB, Sensei is going on a free, and again, has Prem experience. No matter who the manager was we would be heavily linked with both players anyway.
Nothing to read into imo.
16 Apr 2026 02:44:05
I think the category should be MBITK with the MB being 'might be'. That said, as a member of the IKFA club, I might be (see what I did there) wrong.
16 Apr 2026 05:45:38
The press will always link former players to managers. I forget how often Marco Reus and Mario Gotze were supposedly shopping at M&S in Liverpool under Klopp, but it seemed like their names popped up every transfer window.
16 Apr 2026 06:56:23
The press are being told to report he's staying, and the same press are linking us to his former players.
It doesn't take a genius to realise what's going on.
16 Apr 2026 07:11:26
MK, you're assuming Slot wants to stay.
16 Apr 2026 08:29:53
Darwins, unless they were seen with an ice-cream in Blackpool, a pinch of salt was needed with those rumours.
16 Apr 2026 08:47:44
Not a chance Slot stays. He's lost the fans, the dressing room and probably the guys upstairs too.
He'll slink off back to Holland.
16 Apr 2026 09:17:21
If our targets are Minteh and Senesi, then forget about winning anything next season too. The club will bring in better than those.
15 Apr 2026 20:20:02
The club is a business at the end of the day and the bosses are not going to come out and say the manager we have has let us down this season so we want to make a change.
Your original first choice is now available and wants the job. You also have an upcoming top manager who's available on a free.
Your current manager is also not happy and wants to return home. I suspect Slot will be here until the end of the season, then the club will do a review. Meanwhile Ajax or the Netherlands will come in and we will give permission to talk. Slot will go and then we will go for Alonso.
15 Apr 2026 21:27:33
But the wanting to return home thing is only a thing on here. You never hear it mentioned anywhere else. As far as anyone who doesn't use this site is concerned, he's perfectly happy in Liverpool and doesn't miss Holland at all.
So, in that instance, no one is going to leave Liverpool to take either of them jobs. They will have to sack him. It will not be wrapped up in a nice little bow for them.
15 Apr 2026 22:13:27
@Florian, he obviously would prefer to be in the Netherlands. He flies home at every possible opportunity rather than training the players. If he really wanted to be here, he would move his family over and integrate with the city rather than living next to Manchester Airport.
15 Apr 2026 22:21:56
That's not what I'm saying, Shipley. People are suggesting the club will make it look like they've simply not stood in his way, but that wouldn't make sense to the 99.99% of LFC fans that don't use this site. They'd know that no one would ever willingly leave the L'pool hotseat for either of those two jobs.
15 Apr 2026 22:18:31
I want him gone just so you leave the site. HTH *sad emoji goes there*
15 Apr 2026 22:42:50
When he goes I want the news to run Slot Sacked! None of this mutual consent crap, I want whoever comes next to know, if you don't buy into us, you're gone, even if you did win the league. Let's nail our colours to the mast now!
{Ed025's Note - thats one point of view John..
15 Apr 2026 22:46:35
Been here years Slit, no getting rid of me. 😁
{Ed025's Note - dont bank on that FM..if you continue to be confrontational..
15 Apr 2026 23:04:35
Lets hope Xabi has no college going kids back in Spain.
15 Apr 2026 23:53:50
Florian, I remember someone called you a troll, and I thought nah... but 9 out of 10 of your posts is about backing Slot in everything he does, it's like you've got some sort of vested interest in him... very very odd behaviour. 🤔
16 Apr 2026 01:29:51
Not backing him, Strom. Just saying they are gonna have to sack him.
16 Apr 2026 01:01:08
I don't buy the "Slot is too homesick to function" narrative. He's a grown man, it's 90 minutes on a plane back to the Netherlands, that's a lot quicker than the bus journey to most of our away games. His kids are 18/19 so it's not like he's missing them grow up. Not to mention the "homesick Slot" rumours cropped up around the same time we went on an extremely poor run of form, when fans started calling for his head, it seemed to be used as some sort of excuse for sympathy by the Slot-in crowd. The timing is a little too convenient for me.
I do however, have absolutely no doubt that the club will be willing to offer a mutual parting of ways as a professional courtesy for winning the league last year, and no doubt a desire to return home would be seen as the perfect excuse to cover up what we all know is a sacking. And a year from now when Slot's doing a podcast somewhere and is asked about why he "left" Liverpool, he certainly won't have the stones to admit that he was out of his depth and the club felt it was best that walk away.
Florian you'll really say anything for the sake of an argument, I'd say you intentionally rub cats the wrong way and all, tail to head, just to see if you get a reaction.
16 Apr 2026 07:00:49
FSG have no issue sacking managers.
They sacked King Kenny and replaced him with the Brodg. That didn't make sense to me.
They're not trying to explain things to the fans. If he's to be sacked, then they'll sack him. Simple as.
If his agent wants to preserve his rep, then FSG might decide to announce it as mutual agreement.
15 Apr 2026 23:35:52
Seriously Ed? ah c'mon its all a bit of craic.People are far too serious its only football for christs sake. You of all people should see that, your not against a wind up yourself.
{Ed025's Note - its just a bit over the top mate, some posters are getting nasty because of the wind up, its fine in moderation and im not against a good craic as you know but i think you are rocking too many boats..
16 Apr 2026 10:25:09
It's not arguing, Chewy, it's discussing. Different points of view are what a forum is meant to be about. Just think the homesick thing is still "hearsay". People believing what they want to believe.
A bloke going home to see d wife and kids doesn't prove that he's homesick, it's something he kinda has to do. Until we hear from him on the matter, it's just guesswork by fans dying to see the back of him. 😆
15 Apr 2026 20:10:42
ESPN now reporting: Ekitike ruptured Achilles, out 9 months.
15 Apr 2026 20:03:33
Ladies/gents, don't worry about Ornstein, he is a mouthpiece for the club.
Does as he's told.
Slott is done as we have been told by many ITKs for a long time.
6 to go.
15 Apr 2026 19:30:13
Picking up on something Slot said last night regarding transfer business this summer…
He said something about us having to sell before we buy? Our net spend was £150m I think? We sold a lot of players last summer, as a result, our squad is pretty thin now.
With Salah, Robbo & potentially Konate leaving on free transfers, who exactly are we planning on selling to raise transfer funds?
15 Apr 2026 20:20:35
Gakpo, Jones, McAllister, maybe Bradley, Cheisa.
Salah's 400k a week should help too.
What Slot said was right. We sell to buy and replace, whereas teams like Arsenal, Chelsea Utd, City strengthen without the need to sell.
15 Apr 2026 20:23:08
Gakpo and McAllister would be a good start.
15 Apr 2026 20:26:07
Macca, Jones and Gakpo are probably all available. Harvey Elliott still in contract, so we can get a fee there. The outsider, in terms of selling for a fee, maybe Ali. Not sure on Gomez and Endos' contract status, but both will surely be available if anyone would take them.
In the less likely category, Connor and Frimpong could be let go if anyone would pay a decent fee. Depending on next year's coach, we may even let Wirtz go if we could recoup 80% of the fee, and sell without a book loss.
15 Apr 2026 20:54:42
Sell Wirtz?! What an absolute joke of a post. 😡
15 Apr 2026 22:45:11
Think the injury to Palindrome will see Gakpo need to stay.
16 Apr 2026 02:59:56
@Scouse John, why? Get rid of Gakpo and bring in a replacement who can play.
16 Apr 2026 09:20:35
I'd have zero issues with Gakpo staying at the club.
15 Apr 2026 18:14:13
Ornstein reporting we are sticking with Slot next season even if we don't qualify for the UCL.
Please, please tell me this is Bs!!
15 Apr 2026 18:29:47
Read the posts below about this. I will always love LFC, but if Slots in charge next season, I will take a break from football until he has moved on.
15 Apr 2026 18:45:58
BS of the highest order. They will 'quietly' part ways at the end of the season. Why they're persisting til the season's end is a mystery - perhaps concerned about giving a club/footballing legend a chance to audition for the job.
15 Apr 2026 18:52:42
Similar things were said about Rodgers before he was sacked.
If they were 'sticking' with Slot they'd offer him a contract extension.
They're not.
15 Apr 2026 18:55:43
Think to yourself, why would Ornstein even write such a non-story?
15 Apr 2026 18:57:41
I believe they don't want an Ole/Carrick situation; that's why no interim. They already have a replacement in mind, and don't want the complication of an interim doing well and then having the pressure to either keep them or replace.
15 Apr 2026 19:05:29
Iraola.
15 Apr 2026 19:09:03
Chewy's right, what did it achieve stating Slot was staying, they could have kept quiet and left it, what difference would it make.
15 Apr 2026 19:24:41
Ornstein has been briefed to say that so that Slot can leave with reputation intact and 'on his terms' etc., although behind the scenes we know the real reason - this is just a gentleman's agreement to make it look like he isn't sacked and the club don't make rash decisions etc.
He will be gone at end of the season.
Above just my opinion of course.
15 Apr 2026 19:32:51
Jari Iraola's going back to Spain, mate. It's been confirmed he's leaving at the end of the season, and Athletic Bilbao are definitely the strongest candidate for his next destination. We haven't even been mentioned as a possibility in reports.
15 Apr 2026 19:36:19
Tell you what. We've got a massive rebuild on our hands in summer, us.
15 Apr 2026 20:13:02
The club have to protect their asset and it doesn't serve anyone to undermine the coach by not publicly backing him with crucial games ahead. Back the manager, get to end of the season and then part ways. If the club sack Slot or part ways in summer and bring in Alonso, nobody is going to complain and say why did you say he was safe! Ornstein is a club man and needs to protect his relationship with the club because that's his bread and butter, so take what he says with a pinch of salt.
15 Apr 2026 20:48:27
Another fat wallet bookmark, Slot will be gone.
16 Apr 2026 03:05:58
If we sack Slot now we would probably have to pay some ridiculous amount of undeserved compensation. Maybe some sort of compromise was agreed - with Slot agreeing to a 'mutual consent' thing at the end of the season on a reduced pay out? Not saying this is what happened, I have no knowledge of, at this stage, interest, it's just me speculating.
15 Apr 2026 18:07:54
Wouldn’t believe that Ornstein report, bloke is being pushed what to say and put out by the club. That will be the line until it’s mathematically impossible for us to get UCL footy.
Slot will be gone in the summer, and Ren and Stimpy also only have a year left on their deals. Massive summer of change once again for the red men.
Ken.
16 Apr 2026 00:00:28
Add Gravenberch to the list of players to go.
We really need Szob and Writz to click, otherwise another Number 8 midfielder and a CB. Luiz Diaz back. Can't recall why we let him go, surely it wasn't Barcelona wanting him. Could we not have paid the extra money to keep him.
16 Apr 2026 03:08:17
Diaz wanted to leave @Rax. I suspect he really wanted Barcelona but settled for, unwittingly I'd say, a much better team.
