Hi Liverpool family. Ramadan Mubarak to all.
Since Ramadan started any eds know if Salah, Mane playing while fasting or no?
Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - every year this comes up and every year they play. I don't know of a single player that is not playing during Ramadan.}

Don’t a lot of players and athletes get permission to fast at a later date?

{Ed001's Note - some do yes, not normally footballers. They just take care of themselves with a highly tailored diet during Ramadan to avoid dehydration.}

Cheers Ed001. I tried fasting a few years ago to lose weight and not only did I lose a load but also felt amazing and full of energy so I can’t see how it would affect a footballers game so much, especially if they are looking after themselves so well already.
I think a lot of British people struggle to understand after being brought up on 3 square meals a day plus stuffing their faces in between with crisps but fasting is quite normal in many parts of the world.

{Ed001's Note - when I was training I used to regularly fast. The problem is what you do when you break the fast usually. For instance in the UAE they are particularly fond of large quantities of Vimto - much sweeter and stronger than the Vimto in the UK though. That is not the best thing to have if you are an athlete. But if they eat properly (which I am sure Mona Nemmer makes sure they do), it is not unhealthy at all to fast during the day.} Become a Patron!

Vimto is nice though so I will give them that. Funnily enough I used to drink gallons of squash (sugar free) when I was fasting as I found it helped a lot. I should probably go back on a fasting regime myself actually, right after I finish this Easter egg I’ve pinched off the kids. Lol.

{Ed001's Note - might be a bit late for that now mate.}

I read once that Emre Can observed the Ramadan season and still played games for us.

Muslims also have the option of alternatives to fasting. So if you are a diabetic for example, then it can be acceptable to donate money to a charity instead of fasting. Some elite athletes take this option too.
