Thanks Ed001, a good read.

I think Indian Buzzer best summed up Bonucci on the 'Discussion Posts' page yesterday.

I certainly think we dodged a bullet with Mendy, without a shadow of a doubt! We love you Robbo!

Just goes to show how attitude plays such a big part at elite level in sports. Mendy should be careful not to end up in the Balotelli mould (unfortunately a bullet we did not dodge! )

Is Jose actually morphing into a bitter, twisted old woman? Certainly seems like it.

Much appreciated ed, dreadful behavior by Cardiff, next step will be them sueing his estate for compensation when they’re relegated. Have a good one mate. Salah will be on later to comment about the Pogba
anecdote 🤪.

Chris Hughton at Newcastle? Got them promoted and was doing well before being thrown aside for the great Pardew. Was Zidane not just a caretaker in the first instance too?

{Ed001's Note - I don't remember Hughton being a caretaker mate, was he or did he not just get appointed to replace Pardew? As for Zidane, I was meaning English football, you can't compare other leagues as it is a totally different job managing in the English game to any other league.}

True that Ed, fair enough. I thought Hughton got sacked to make way for Pardew though. That’s why there was such uproar at the time because he was doing such a good job. I may be wrong but when Newcastle went down under Shearer, Hughton was one of the coaching staff at the club who then was only meant to be temporary but stayed on and got them promoted.

{Ed001's Note - that's it, you are right about him being after Shearer not Pardew and Pardew replacing him. I can't remember if he was caretaker or not, if he was that would be the one exception to prove the rule found. Now the question is if there are any more.

I was wondering if Nigel Adkins was caretaker initially at Southampton?}

No Adkins came straight in as manager. We had some AWFUL caretakers who got the job full time. Steve wigley the worst.

{Ed001's Note - cheers MS I wasn't sure. I personally think giving the job to a caretaker is almost certain to fail, because the club obviously did not believe in them enough to give them the job initially. So it sends out the wrong message to players and subliminally the club itself tends to stop short of giving 100% backing on transfers etc.}

You are right though ed. Caretakers never work. I know Darren Moore was unfortunate at West Brom to be sacked but that is exactly why I thought he shouldn’t have taken the job in the first place. He had a good thing going as a coach at his club and caretakers never last. Don’t try and make the step up at a club you love, it’ll only end in disappointment. Get experience elsewhere as a manager and then try your luck.

{Ed001's Note - it is a shame because they usually are doing a favour to the club, who then shaft them later.}

The reason I think Man U made a mistake in giving Ole the job. Being sentimental and pleasing the fans never works. Not when it is reported Allegri will be available, another 3 years of fixing errors coming their way.

Klopp Era, I have said that OGS should have just tried his best to steady the ship (like he has done) and then try to get top 4. Whether he got it or not, I proposed that he walk away with his dignity and credibility intact. Now, he has taken the job and now, his goodwill and credibility will only last so far. Sentiments has never won a game of football, as far as I know.

Remember, OGS is a VERY inexperienced manager at this level. That much is a fact. Hence when things start going wrong, he will have no "I'm just here to help out" excuse anymore. It will be his team hence, his failures and successes . Is he up for it at this level? I don't think so esp. NOT in the PL where big clubs like Arsenal and LFC are getting shut out of the top 4. We shall see.

Ed1, first of thank you. Great read as always.

With regards to Sala, have to admit ignorance on the subject. What is the usual procedure to avoid this issue - insurance from the buying club? Did Cardiff mess up something and so trying to cover it with these ridiculous technicalities?! You can give tell me where to go if been done to death of course!

Cheers.
