Hi eds, first time poster but long time reader. I was interested in your opinion on Alexandre Lacazette as a via alternative to Sanchez? I remember a few rumours a while back, but nothing recent. Seems the type of player who can make things happen and plays the forward / wide positions.
{Ed002's Note - I understand that Napoli, Spurs and Arsenal had Lacazette watched on a number of occasions before the end of the season and that previous interest from Roma remains. Newcastle have also shown an interest. He had a good season and this summer I would expect that there will be interest in him from a number of clubs, possibly including Liverpool who have had him watched perhaps with a view to Suarez leaving. Lyon would like to keep him and will demand a very significant fee for the player (which has already put off Juventus) and an even higher fee still from English sides.}

Emre Can - case for midfield spot:
Score from midfield - check
Create from midfield - check
Lets hope Brendan is paying attention! Having a brilliant tournament with Germany so far.
{Ed030's Note - That ticks every box for him to become the new RB then. }

No with BR's record of playing people out of position - reckon Can is lined up as Mignolets replacement.

Bit of comedy to brighten up the posts - Sam Allardyce recently commented on how Rodgers is 'too set in his ways' - a vaguely credible comment given recent form, before continuing to align his own tactical 'nous' with such luminaries as Mourinho and 'ol Fergie stating he's able to adapt his tactics.
Now now Sam, getting a little ahead of yourself there - he'll be expecting a call from FSG next about taking the reins.
On that note, will a certain Dutch fellow be getting a call this time next weekend?

Just curious, is anyone worried about Man UTDs window? Despite the money spent and names attached, I'm neither envious nor panicking about the rivalry between our clubs. Does anyone else feel the same? I think part of it is down to our window being so productive.

I'll be asking for an Ian Ayre action figure for christmas! (The one that comes with the Harley motorcycle and contract firing exhausts).
Bravo sir, bravo indeed.

I don't understand why we're in for Bony. I thought it was part of Rogers philosophy to have a fluid, inter-changing attack. I thought there were more flexible options out there for the money being quoted. Sorry, i'm just finding our business a little baffling at times. The only club doing what Rodgers said he would do in the transfer market is Arsenal. Ok, bellyache over!

I agree Lucas is somewhat underrated - I feel the difference he makes is exaggerated by the poor defensive coaching though. Good news about Can (hopefully) moving into midfield, I feel he'll offer a great deal there, he has good defensive qualities despite having a tough time at RB (Lucas would struggle there as well) and offers more going forward. If only the new backroom appointments are aimed at solving the back line issues, here's hoping.
Thanks for the reply Ed.

On a positive note though perhaps Can will have his chance as DM in midfield with both Allen and Milner capable of providing backup in this position with rotation.
Reading between the lines Eds, the negative aspect of this potential deal is that Lucas was persuaded to stay in Jan and is now being moved on. Is it possible that he's still open to a move rather than the club doing the dirty on him?
{Ed001's Note - it is more that Brendan doesn't rate him and wants to replace him.}

I know, can't believe it. They said the door was always open for him, didn't think it'd be him having to open and close it though!
