Reds and eds, moreno deal to be completed after super cup match next Tuesday. That leaves only a striker to balance the squad at least in my opinion. What do people think about the supposed availability of Alonso. A pity it wasn't a couple of years ago but I still feel he could do a job covering in front of the back four for a year or two. Just think what he would have added last season, probably would have won the league! Obviously money in terms of transfer fee and wages mean it is not likely to happen. Cheers

Greetings reds and eds, hate losing to the mancs(wife's family all man u supporters). I think overall pre season has gone well and in particular has identified where improvement is needed. Full backs and forwards in my view which is shared by most fans and it seems the club are trying to address this. Hopefully signings will be made that provide balance and if so it will be a matter of integrating the new players into the side. Brendan is keen on players being versatile and I would like to see him be flexible in his approach to games this season as we will no longer be taking teams by surprise. What do others think? Cheers

Been visiting this site for a while and thought it was time I posted. Been a supporter for many years and a season ticket holder in the 70's and 80's so have lived through the golden years. Now exiled to another part of the country so not a regular visited to Anfield. I see a lot of posts looking for a big name signing. I recall Steve highway, Jimmy case, ray Clemenceau, Kevin Keegan, Phil Neal, Alec Lindsay, ian rush, John Aldridge, Alan Hansen, mark lawrenson, Bruce grobelaar, Robbie fowler, Steve macmaneman, samiw hypia etc. When did we ever buy the big name players. What we need are the right players who are motivated. A blend of youth and experience and versatility. For the first time in many years we are going in the right direction but I think that the next couple of seasons will be difficult while everything beds in but remember it took Shankly a few years to turn the club around when he first came in. I for one am looking forward to an interesting season. Long first post over. All the best to fellow reds.
