First time poster on a great site. Well I have got to say, as much as it pains me to, our current league position is a true reflection of where we are as a club in comparison to the rest. We are mediocre and a mid table club as it stands.
The sad point is that we have some quality players that are being utilised in completely the wrong way.
1. Young Gomez at left back. I believe he is going to be a solid signing as a centre
Half/right back. When before he came to Liverpool did he play left back?? Yesterday exposed exactly why at elite level especially, you need balance in the side. In general, players playing in positions that they use their strongest foot. The tackle Gomez put in was rash and inexperienced, not having a go at him it's part of the learning curve. A naturally left sided player will have been more comfortable making that tackle and possibly won the ball.
Mr Rodgers is responsible for this mistake when you analyse it for playing him there.
but he has this awful habit of playing players out of their natural positions as stated earlier.
Why on earth did we buy Benteke if we were not going to play with width? Players that can get to the bye line and whip in driven balls that forwards/attacking midfielders love? Doesn't matter if it goes in the net off shin, knee, chest, or cause panic and defender put in own net.
I have been patient with BR but having followed the club since the late 60's Don't believe we have ever been this bad. Sadly it appears to be the coaching/tactics of our current manager. Thank you for your efforts BR, and I do believe you have tried, but you are not up to managing our great club.
