I am a little unhappy at the quality of the fullbacks that Rodgers is looking to sign. Living in Spain, I have seen both the rumoured ones and I can say I am not impressed.

Left-back: Alberto Moreno is just younger version of Jose Enrique. He is a poor version of Jordi Alba. Good going forward really poor at defending. His actual defensive positional sense is not at all good. Coupled with a work ethic that is not strong, I think we could do better or just play Flannagan there.

Right-back: Manquillo, I have seen him a few times in league and cola games. To be honest he is far from impressive. He gave a stupid penalty away in the semi final and then nearly broke his neck.

if we take one or both the question is where does that Flannagan?

{Ed002's Note - It would be a kick in the balls for the Liverpool kids. Maybe Rodgers can take them with him when he gets the Barcelona job next summer or the summer after?}

Think we are making a big mistake with Alberto Moreno. He is not worth 20 million euros. He is a good attacking defender but his defensive positioning is very very bad.

He goes walkabout most of the time. We have somebody like that in Jose Enrique who is better defensively than Moreno. even Carragher said he gave up trying to organize Enrique because he does what he wants. Our defence is already rather fragile and Moreno is not going to Improve it over Flannagan. flan no is a much better defender and a decent attacker. he has experience of the premier league. Brendan just do not throw 20 million down the plug hole

Looks like we are going to miss out on Willian.

Have to say Spurs are spending very well this year going for the champions league spot. If they do sell Bale and invest in Soldado, Paulinho, Capoue, willian and lamela as looks a possibility, the best signing they mad was Franco Baldini.

It shows what a good Director of Football can do. I think we maybe lacking that person at Liverpool that can drive deals through because of their little black book. This year we seem to be unable to sell the club to anybody when we have had competition.

Maybe it is time to look at a somebody that has that again. And not somebody like Comolli that was useless.

Hearing that Diego Costa may have signed an extension to his contract. This however, does not mean that Atletico will not sell, they may have just put the where negotiations start that bit higher.

To be honest the only person I don't want to have told him he can leave if we did not make the CL is the owners. if Rodgers or Ayre have said it, it really means zip. They are employees, own no shares and do not have the ultimate authority to make these decisions. Even Ian Ayre wiil need to get approval

Rodgers can say he has gone to the owners and said he thinks Suarez should now go but ultimately they are the ones to do it.

FSG do not mess around. Look at when the club was sold, they did not back away with the threat of legal action from H&G. They faced up to it. Suarez is minor irritant.

You can be sure that top lawyers have looked at this clause and will have given their legal judgement.

The PFA are not what you would call a neutral party, they cannot be seen to go against their members in this case.

I think The management have played a blinder so far. My guess is they are trying to force Arsenal to pay more but they have also been waiting for Suarez to put in his transfer request.

Suarez has shot himself in the foot now. That interview has now saved Liverpool 2 million quid (5% of 40 million), they just need to sit tight and they have saved money. If Suarez does not put the transfer request in then it will just destroy is reputation more. (What is left of it)

The club has waited because they knew he could not keep his mouth shut and all the reaction from virtually anywhere has been negative on him. He really looks like a hypocrite. I suspect in his mind he will return and get a warm welcome because is a legend having played a grand total of 96 games.

He opened his mouth and all loyalty for him just left the Liverpool fans. Anything left wanting to stay has gone. The club has won the PR game with the Liverpool fans (although at a cost to their reputation outside which will soon be forgotten). Fans are now more behind FSG and Rodgers than at anytime and Arsenal fans must be cr**ing themselves what he will do there.

I can see a much more rigid release clause in his Arsenal contract, a higher salary and a lot of other nonsense. I can only see this going one way for Arsenal.

And for Arsenal, I suspect Liverpool will be a little less accommodating for them in the future.
